Re: The Rest of the Playoffs
Well, they lost this in the 1st quarter. You aren't going to beat many teams that are shooting 80% or whatever ridiculous number they were shooting and giving up 70 points in an NBA Conference Finals. Good Luck.

Re: The Rest of the Playoffs
Pacers shot 16 more free throws than Miami, had 18 offensive rebounds to the Heat's 6, only turned it over 10 times - and STILL got blown out 114-96.
Strange game. After a hot first six minutes Pacers couldn't throw the ball in the ocean, finishing at 39.7%. It would help if they could make their free throws. Even though they lost by 18, so many times missed free throws (they missed 14 of 'em) kept them from putting further pressure on Miami by cutting the lead down. Instead, they nearly always trailed by double digits in the second and third quarters thereby keeping the crowd out of the game and allowing the Heat to not sweat the outcome.
Will be extremely tough for anyone to beat the Heat four times in a seven game series. If the Pacers don't win the next two, they're done.

Re: The Rest of the Playoffs
Good observations steve3344. Here's what they have done. The weight from the tractor pull has now moved from the back of the plank bed to about a third of the way down. It's not disastrous or the end of the world, but it is not helping. The engine now has to work that much harder to get to the finish line.
IND has now lost half of its best options on their home court trip. They will not be up 3-1( most preferable), nor if they were going to split their 2 home games winning the 1st game and losing the second, (next best preferred). Now they have before them must winning the next game to go 2-2, or basically quitting by choosing the death knell, throwing in the towel and going down 1-3. That's the weight they are now pulling behind them. Plus, everything is back to what it was at the beginning. MIA now has home court back and even more importantly, the series is almost half over.
Again if they do get a split now at home, which they more than likely will, Game 5 will be it for IND. They did win one on MIA's court but the odds of winning Game 7 for IND are right around 2%. It has happened, but very, very rarely. Boston was one of the teams to do it and that was years and years ago, one of Sam's favorite games I believe. "Something L-O-O-N Game." (Read in monotone sounding like Ben Stein)
Now they are forced to win Game 4 or steve3344, you are correct, it is over. We will see what they've got. MIA is simply too tough. IND now has to win 3 of the remaining 4 games, too. Like I said at the beginning, it was a loss, it's not the end of the world but they certainly didn't help themselves last night.

UGH!! I was so hoping Indiana would go home and still be on fire. I cannot bring myself to watch a Heat game, I do check the scores periodically though!!

Perhaps Indy can still even the series. If that's the case, they can still have a shot at this.

Well, on to the game at hand. Are the brooms out or going back in for one game in light of a potential, brief Buster Douglas moment tonight.

The most amazing move in Saturday's game was not that SAS came from 18 down to win, it was Pop's guts to pull all the starters off the floor in the 1st quarter for almost an entire quarter to get their heads in the game.
Beginning of the end for MEM.

Since the Finals start on June 6th that means the Spurs get ten days of rest.
I'd say they should be healthy.

Re: The Rest of the Playoffs
Barring a miraculous win in Game 5 by IND, they will start off in MIA.
We'll either hear of the two clichés that the rest was good for them with a Game 1 win or it was too much for them and they were sluggish with a Game 1 loss. I'm going to bet given our old geysers responses in similar situations that it will be a SAS loss.

Pivotal Game 5 it is for all the marbles. Game 7 is out of the questions for IND.

The tough thing is, IND has to win 3 in a row. There is no other option. But they can do it.

From the postgame:
The Pacers revved up the crowd with an opening 11-0 run, got the Heat in foul trouble and answered every challenge Miami posed in a physical game that had bodies flying, tempers flaring and James stunned after fouling out of a playoff game for only the second time in his career.
and
Nobody was more frustrated than James, who was called for a technical foul in the first quarter and four fouls over the final 12 minutes — the last an offensive foul. After walking from one end of the court to the Miami bench, James sat disbelievingly on a press table and spent the final 56 seconds mumbling to the officials.
Again he promised to make amends.
"It was a couple of fouls that I didn't feel like were fouls, personal fouls on me, but that's how the game goes sometimes," James said.

Mumbling? Perhaps he is out there still looking for those "fouls that I didn't feel like were fouls, personal fouls on me"

Re: The Rest of the Playoffs
I Love It!!!!!! I didn't watch the game, as I have said, I can't watch Miami, they drive me crazy!!! I did tune in, Indy was leading and Ray Allen was crabbing at the ref that there should have been a foul called against his defender! Fitting Right in Ray!!! James fouling out was a real treat, 265lbs and hardly ever getting called for a foul? Come on NBA, let's at least play fair!
Wouldn't the NBA die if Indy won? The ratings would go down the tubes. Oh well, one game at a time. They are really beating up Miami though, so going six or seven would really be tough on them. I wish they had come out this way the first game home, they would have had Miami reeling.
WISHFUL THINKING

Let's not forget that Larry Legend is the mastermind behind the assembling of this Indy team.

Re: The Rest of the Playoffs
Rosalie,
Take it easy. Pacers will need to be winning by a good margin, which I doubt be happening. If it's a close game the league will not allow small market, no-superstar team to go to the Finals.
My take on LJ fouling out is that a) someone forgot to brief the refs for that game and they decided - what the heck, let's do a decent job, for a change or, b) the league decided to compensate for game 1 and all DWade's shenanigans.
I didn't watch the game, either. But I believe that hard, physical play is the only weapon Indy can produce and Mia has no response to.
But I couldn't agree with you more - it'd be sooo sweet to see Indy and Spurs on the floor come June 6.
