Rondo's Top 10 Plays
One of my favorites was one from last year, where he pulled up at the foul line, almost falling on his back he pulled back so fast, faked left and then hit (I think) Jeff Green underneath for the dunk. Anybody else remember that one?
Not to be out-done...
Do you notice similarities in style? What Al Maguire used to call "french pastry"? The eyes in the back of the head. The inhuman peripheral vision. John Stockton was a great passer, but he didn't have the flash of these guys. A very solid passer, whose meat-and-potatoes was the pick-and-roll with Karl Malone, but not this stuff. Magic had the flash. Tiny Archibald had the flash. Not even that sneaky little Canadian, as good as he was/is, didn't have this much flash (extremely fundamentally sound, however. Well, at least his offense. LOL). Deron? Nope. Chris Paul? Nope, although he's a very good passer and very good scorer. Jason "White Chocolate" Williams had the flash, but he was so deficient in so many other ways you couldn't help but be disappointed in him.
We all know about Rondo's deficiencies; his temper, his ego, his gambling defense, his free throws (ESPECIALLY his free throws) but he is a once-in-a-generation passer.
