Daniels Had Surgery
Marquis Daniels has surgery to repair a torn ligament in his thumb. No timetable on his return yet. I hope he heals quickly.
Pete
Edit: Latest news says he will be out 6-8 weeks.

Re: Daniels Had Surgery
So much for "we need to get Pierce a backup this offseason".
Surgery of any kind says 3-4 weeks minimum, to me.

Re: Daniels Had Surgery
It's a major hit in several ways.
1. Daniels was probably the lead backup point player, whether at guard or forward. (Hello Tyronn?)
2. As pointed out, who's Pierce's backup now?
3. Daniels was an important element in the versatility that offered Doc a lot of options (at least presumably)
4. Unless Paul plays with the bench, the slashing element is gone.
5. The bench was having enough problems gaining chemistry. Now that process may be set back considerably.
6. Even when the bench wasn't great on the offensive end, Daniels was part of a reasonably efficient defense.
This is far from just the loss of a sub.

Re: Daniels Had Surgery
Lets hope Walker has learned a bit & at least can help relieve Pierce. But you are right Sam, we just lost more than one backup position.

Re: Daniels Had Surgery
This is a time when Tony Allen will get another shot to help the team. Scalabrine may also see more minutes at the 3 spot
As far as the PU PG situation we may see both RA and PP bring the ball up more when Rondo is not in the game.
Also we may see Rondo get more minutes with the second unit.
I also would remind everyone that Daniels came to the Celtics with a history of nagging injuries.
