Celtics recall Brooks from Maine

The Boston Celtics recalled MarShon Brooks from the Maine Red Claws of the D-League on Thursday. He's expected to rejoin the team for Friday's game against the Golden State Warriors.

Brooks, who has played only 61 minutes in nine appearances for Boston this season, used a five-game stint in Maine to shake some rust and prep for whenever an opportunity arrives with the Celtics. Brooks averaged 27.4 points, 6 rebounds, 4.4 assists, 1.2 steals, and 1 block over 35 minutes per game.

The Celtics created some backcourt minutes by trading Courtney Lee to Memphis this week, but newly acquired Jerryd Bayless has filled those minutes initially. The backcourt will get a little more crowded when rehabbing Rajon Rondo returns to game action.

So... will Marshon get Bayless's minutes?

Or maybe Pressey is the one that gets shafted.

He's coming up because something else is in the works with Danny.

Sounds about right. The trades no one expects are the most likely to happen with Danny.

Maybe the reason he's coming back is because of the deal that Danny has already worked up, the Lee/Bayless deal. Bayless plays back up point guard. By moving Lee it creates those minutes for Brooks.

The month ahead should definitely be an interesting one.

I am pretty sure you are right.
Bayless is not really a SG.
Brooks should play more now.
Last year when Fab Melo was called up, people said a trade must be happening...nothing happened.
End of the rotation players get sent down and brought back up frequently at times.

Either way, I don't see Bayless staying beyond his contract.

Going forward, I think it'll be: Rondo, Bradley, Brooks, Crawford, and Pressey.

They got Pressey on the cheap and he knows the system. Crawford should be the backup PG and he is only a $3-4M/year guy, which isn't bad. Brooks has talent on offense but he hasn't seen much court time. I think he still stands a very good chance of being moved. Who knows, perhaps Bayless and Brooks will be moved in some unforeseen deal.

Pressey is no smaller now than he was when Danny signed him. If he's gone it won't be because of his height, it'll be because he hasn't been hitting his shots and that created the need for Bayless.

Now, Bayless just needs to hit his shots too.

Once Rondo returns and is totally healthy (fingers crossed), the only Celtics guards I'd be surprised to see moved are Rajon and Bradley. The others (yes, includingi Crawford) vacillate between being journeymen and trick-or-treaters. Whether or not it was by design, his D-League stint was the perfect showcase for Brooks. No, it wasn't against NBA competition, but it displayed his skills to potential trade partners perfectly.

Shot I agree, but Pressey cannot elevate like Robinson so he is a defensive liability although I like his passing game and all out running.
