Re: Lottery Day Thread
I totally agree. Do we now make a play for Okafor or possibly Noel. Maybe something where we keep the pick and take Hield while putting together a package of Avery or Smart and other pieces?112288 wrote:Look for Danny to trade #3. This is in no man's land!

I'm disappointed too. Really wanted to get into the Top 2. Had a 31.3% chance of doing that. Oh well...

Finally Olynk had surgery. He was holding out hope to be in olympics. I know it is hard, but the Celtics pay him his salary, seems to me that is where his alliegience lies

Boston is probably very open to trading the #3 pick.
But, maybe they will be wowed during the pre draft workouts and choose to keep it.
I don't think the draft lottery has ever gone in order.
That was crazy.

I see no reason to trade the pick... C's won 48 games and got a great pick.

Re: Lottery Day Thread
I am not sold on either Simmons or Ingram, so #3 is not necessarily a bad thing. Danny now has a chance to pick the best of the remaining 30 players, and then two others of the top 30. He has a good nose for talent. We have many options here. Many cards to play. Good news to hear that Kelly opted for surgery. He should be totally mended by October 15th.
Big question is who does Danny consider to be the best player available? Whom might Philly like to obtain from us?

My answers:
1. A long 3 or a real 5, draft for need, not BPA, unless either of those choices is BPA.
2. I don't want to trade inside our division. No soup for Philly!!

The 3rd pick should yield a top 5 player. The fact that we did not drop below 3 is really great news. There are probably several players in this draft that will become Allstars. It is all about making the right pick and we have plenty to choose from.

I say trade the pick and an asset to Philly for a young guy in Okafor who can perform on an NBA level.
Another option is to draft the kid from Providence PG who is an elite player and trade Smart and other picks for Okafor.

Just back from a baseball meeting; Major League Baseball working on radical rule changes with youth leagues; trying to fight the lacrosse incursion.
So I see...3! Very Good!
High enough to land a top player in a position of need; probably a little scoring/shooting fix. My guess, and hope, is welcome to Boston Buddy Hield! Plus, we can swap with the Nets next year and have their first in 2018.
I'd bet that with the three pick we'll retain at least one of 16 or 23 and consider a trade of the other toward future picks. Likely we at least keep 16 if we're looking for more scoring, or 23 if we're looking for a big. Possible we use all 3; that would be my own preference.
Good day to be a Celtic fan. Bad night to be Simmons or Ingram, having to think about ending up in Philly. At least one of the two has a shot to end up in LA.

ON BUDDY HIELD
All the talk on him is .........best shooter in the draft, unbelievable ...yda, yda, yda!
I have heard the same bull shxt about how great Young was as a shooter and now he cannot hit an ocean let alone a 3 pter for us.
Same goes for Hunter as well.
TRADE THE PICK!

112288,
Rich; no comparison between Hield and Young. Hield is a much more mature player, has a vastly superior, more well rounded, overall game. Hunter is not a long-term NBA player; possibly already done IMO.

Same to your family.
Are you heading to The Cape at all this summer? We'll be on The Cape, but doesn't look good for us coming down to The Island due to the crowded baseball schedule. Haven't been down there to my brother's place in two years, maybe after football this fall, unless Michael also makes basketball.
I've got to get you a scotch to settle your nerves!
