Re: 2016 Playoff Thread
Cow and Bob,
I think what we're seeing with Sully is one of the major reasons he dropped so far in the draft to begin with. Weight and conditioning.
The question to me is less about willingness to adapt to changes in the game and more about ability to do so. I think Bob hit it in his post above, when he mentioned willingness and mobility.
Sully might still have value to a team like ours as a forward off the bench. He has just enough of several skills that he would fit in a second unit or rotation that included strategic changes of pace that need a more traditional big. In limited minutes he could fill that role. Problem is he might really be too expensive for that purpose, and similar players could be had on the cheap.
Regards

I don't know what kind of skeletons Sully has in his closet or attic, maybe he should have hired a hypnotist, sad bunch of wasted potential. This kid should have worked his ass off and been some kind of version of Carlos Boozer and Zach Randolph, and he has teased us with monster games before against elite players. As much as the game is changing, you still need some effective old school pieces to counter and hold your own in the paint. Hope he surprises us tonite, can't imagine his game getting any worse, he has been really terrible this whole playoff run and the last weeks of the season, he keeps looking like hes in worse and worse shape.

With his stock dropping like it's the late 1920's, who's going to want him in a trade? Or will Danny just try to bury him in a multi as an add-on/throw away?

WOW!! Cortney Lee with a huge 3 to put Hornets up 2 with 25 seconds left and to make up for a non goaltending call the previous possesion. Then next Heat possesion Wade got stuffed down low!!!

I think Sully has played himself out of a new contract in the $10M or more range now.
Turner however, has probably played himself INTO one.
even-stevens, as they say.

We are gonna find out what Kevin Durant is really made of, gonna be great match up Durant vs Kawhi. Thunder and Spurs both have bevy of old school bigs, if Durant can't dominate his match up, Thunder won't win.

don't have a 3 point shot and do damage to other teams mostly in paint both ends

FOCKIN REFS!!!
20 seconds left in 2 point game, Paul George drives then throws alley opp pass to Ian Mahini, then DeRozen clearly pushes Mahini in the back right as hes jumping shoving him at least a foot the opposite way......and NO CALL!!
UNBELIEVABLE!!! should have been a dunk and OT.....blatant robbery
poor Larry Bird

as blatant a non call as Rondo getting raked across the face vs Heat in 12, how do these thieves keep on getting away with this? someone should get fired, its so obvious the fix was in!!!

It was a 3 point game when the refs missed the foul.

One missed call doesn't mean the fix was in.
Toronto outplayed Indiana for most of the game.
It was a very close series as expected.
It was won by the better team.

Maybe its time to let the fans call the game - If and when Instant replays become available to the fans, in a mini second, there's no reason why the fans couldn't call a perfect game while watching on their tv sets.

that better team had an epic collapse going on in the 4th and got bailed out by the refs, if you or anybody saw that play, how is that foul not called at such a crucial part of the game? Barkley and Shaq both said it was a foul, been watching the game for over 45 years, I don't think I'm blind yet.

It was a foul that should have been called, but wasn't.
Even if he hit both FT's, Indiana would have been down by 1 with 15 seconds left without the ball.
Don't base anything on what Shaq says. About 10 times after the game he claimed the blatant push off by George should have been called a blocking foul which is beyond ridiculous.
It seems like it's time for Indiana ownership to press the reset button.
They have not been and are not contenders.
Can they make the playoffs, yes. But they never get far.

it was an obvious foul, so tj how does that not get called? someone should be held accountable for the good of the game.

It was definitely a foul.
I am not sure if I would say obvious foul only because players over-act many plays like that, like Marcus Smart did a couple of weeks ago.
The baseline official probably is done refereeing games for the playoffs.
That's how they punish referees who make mistakes.

He got pushed right in the lower back as he was jumping, was moved that direction easily a foot or more as he was in the air, so he missed the pass he was reaching for.....how fockin incompetent and blind does one have to be to miss that call? Something has to be done the refs can't blow such an obvious call with the game so on the line, last 20 seconds of a tight game 7, really???? how the fock is that call blown.....??????

Nice to see Valenciunas and Whiteside, 2 oldschool bigs battling in the paint, posting each other and pounding each other

Golden State was very vulnerable to a scrappy, young and talented Portland team for 40 minutes last night. And then the roof fell in to the tune of a a GS run of 28-8 to close the game.

Just heard on First Take that Cavs were 2nd in league in made 3 point FG, 3rd in attempts, so last nights game was not a fluke, they might not shoot that good again, but they have adapted and can play the 3 ball game.

All part of the modern game. Even the BIGS can light it from down town. Consider the fact that back in 1985-86 the centers for the most part operated in the paint and were not nearly as heavy as they are now (235.2lbs average). Back in 85-86 the highest per game average 3pt attempts for centers was 2/10 of a shot. Compare 3 Cav forwards on this years Cavs team, James - 250lbs, Love - 251 lbs and Frye - 255 lbs, who all play forward and take at least 3.7 3pt attempts per game. 30 years ago they would have been back to the basket players and among the heaviest players in the league.

Re: 2016 Playoff Thread
The Hawks looked horrible.
How does this impact their desire to resign Harford?
One thing that is the same as last year. The Cavs were the bigger more physical team against Boston last year and Atlanta and same against Atlanta this year. Give me the big physical and athletic center over the stretch 5.

We are in agreement, Horford is just okay, hes like Antoine Walker, he is good enough to get you in the playoffs, then gets his ass kicked by a bigger better player like Jermaine O'Neil or Kenyon Martin back in the day.

Valanciunas. Big time player? Yes. Huge rebounds.
DeRozan. Big time player? No. 1-6 ft
Dwayne Casey. Big time coach? No. Didn't understand 2-for-1, all Lowry iso in clutch. No movement.
