Okafor Traded

To Brooklyn.

Okafor + Stauskas + 2nd rounder to Brooklyn.

Trevor Booker to Philly.

He'll play there.

He may not enjoy it so much, but he'll play.

There will be a bunch of Cs fans who will be disappointed by this trade resulting in Okafor not being available for the Cs, but Ainge decided that there were going to be better ways to use the DPE later in the year.

Either way (trading peanuts for Okafor now or using the DPE later on) is a gamble, but I have to agree that I also think that Okafor was not worth using the DPE right now.  He would have been a "project" type of guy at best on a first place team.

At least he should get a chance to get on the court, and is likely to be treated better by the Nets than how Philly treated him.

Plus, he is still available at the trading deadline.

The Nets traded Lopez, Booker and the 27th pick in '17 for the 2nd and 3rd picks in the '15 draft. Obviously an oversimplification and Okafor's pedigree doesn't mean much, but still really weird when framed that way.

In my opinion this is a brain dead trade.

The Nets now have (4) count them centers on their team (Mozgov, Zeller, Allen and Okafor)

They also have (5) SG's and no PF with Booker being traded.
