But you're right about what a pickle we'd be in this year with all that crapola going on.  That was the first thing that kept popping into my mind as I was reading this thread.  This year would have been more of a trainwreck than last year.

All Hail Danny!!  He may be more of a master of knowing when to ditch than when to pitch.  It's very uncanny how he unloads these players at PRECISELY the right time.  Truly amazing.  We are seeing Omniscience to the Nth Degree right before our very eyes.

I should point out that Danny did not get rid of Kyrie.

Danny still wanted to resign him. We were saved by the hoop god not Danny.

That maybe be true but Danny agreed to the terms that allowed Cryrie to bail on his own volition.

It's like my wife and I. We are two spenders. But we've "tricked" ourselves into saving and investing way more money than we ever would have done had we tried to do it ourselves or waited for the right time when there were no bills, etc.

Danny did the same thing. Put his own checks and balances in there should he become unable to reason/fall in love with a player, etc.

Danny had a plan A, B and C.

Plan A make a trade for AD and pair him with KI

Plan B resign K I and AH

Plan C replace KI and AH.

I cannot begin to give Danny any credit for the departure of KI.

In the end Danny and the Celtics were saved. They avoided over paying for AH and they avoided having the volatile nature of Kyrie Irving in the locker room where he could infect this team with his virus of self indulgence.

Things worked out well in the end.

Kyrie is out for the season!

Halfway through the 1st Jerome Allen of the Nets is being revealed as the newest Hassan Whiteside. He struggles offensively against other bigs, won't even try a mid-range jump shot, and doesn't want to leave the paint on defense.

The Nets are:

8-12 without Kyrie, 17-16 with him.
116.9ppg without Kyrie, 107.4ppg with him.
46% fg% without Kyrie, 43% with him.

Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good, right Danny boy?

Lucky is right.  There was so much tension on this team last year.  Glad AD did not want to be here.  Dito for Kyrie and Al Horford.  Different reasons apply to each but the bottom line is that Danny did not lose out on anything.  Celtics fans are happy and the team is happy.  Kyrie is injured again and big Al has been demoted.  Both Jays are still here and that probably would not have happened if The Trade for AD was made.

Lakers are reportedly to waive DeMarcus Cousins in anticipation of Markieff Morris being bought out by the Pistons and signing with L.A.

Both Morris twins are in LA, heaven for them.

Think about it.  Cousins was all set to ink a $200 million deal and now he gets waived.

He should have taken the deal NOLA offered even after the injury.  He felt insulted.  So he signed for short money with GS and then LAL  Wonder what he feels now.

For the Wizards, Cousins could represent another low risk, high reward big man acquisition that the Lakers couldn't find any use for. Washington acquired both Thomas Bryant and Moe Wagner from LA for practically nothing and both have played well after their relocation to D.C.

Also, John Wall played with Cousins at the University of Kentucky and both have mentioned a desire to play together again at some point. Neither player is expected to return from injury this season, so they could both go on an NBA revenge tour together alongside Bradley Beal, Davis Bertans and Rui Hachimura.

In the meantime, we'll have to wait and see what Cousins decides to do. According to ESPN's Bobby Marks, Cousins won't officially be waived until Sunday. The team who claims him will be able to offer him up to $4.2 million in salary this summer.

Yeah, ESPN and others, let's back this glamorous, self-proclaimed ECF series up to the 2nd Round maybe and make it a sweeper by MIL, Simmons or not.  Injuries suck.  Won't get any sympathy from the Celtics in that area.  We've had to play through way more of them and it's taken 50+ games just for us to figure it out.  You won't have enough time to figure it out this year before you're bounced from the playoffs, maybe in the first round.

For all the bitching I do about the barrage of injuries, thank God for the lessons we've learned from them.  We need to show the Lakers and the league today what we've learned sans Kemba as a result.

On to the big non-Celtics game this week...MIL @ TOR Tuesday on TNT. If TOR wins this one, we are going to have to get used to 3rd place in the East. That would just about wrap it up. We'd need to go 4-1 through road trip and Friday vs. HOU. Tall order.

It looks like MIL feasted at the line, 36-21 advantage. It wasn't just Giannis Antetokounmpo at the line either, he only shot 8.

Other than free-throws, their FG shooting was not so good (38.1%). Only Khris Middleton shot FG at 50%, the rest shot less than that.

Also looks like we're going to have to be the Giant Killers in the Eastern Conference Playoffs since everyone else has now bowed out of the competition.

No pressure but circle 3/12 on your calendars as we will be @MIL for that game. NOTHING would replace the sting of losing the game to the Lakers than to thrash the Bucks at home for all the NBA world to see and plant a seed in their minds that it won't be anywhere near as easy as they think. Can't wait.

Philly lost to Cleveland.  Embiid left with a left shoulder sprain after just 8 minutes.

If Embiid and Simmons are both out for a while they could drop to 6th, and play us in the 1st round.

Old friend Ante Zizic delivered the blow to Embiid.

Danny held the line on making a mid-season trade.  The buyout market has pretty much dried up.  

Teams have until Sunday March 1st.  It certainly does not look like Danny will make a move.

But if Tristan Thompson or Evan Turner became available should Danny jump on that?
