#Celtics frontcourt takes another hit. Vincent Poirier, the team says, is out six weeks with a fractured right pinkie that requires surgery.

Hate to see yet another injury, but Poirier wasn't playing anyway.
If someone is needed behind Theis and Kanter, they can probably shuffle Yante and Tacko back and forth.

It is Tacko Tuesday after all! Ship him in!! At least we know we will be winning the opening tap and getting the ball to star the 4th quarter every game!

Yante can't play for the Celtics because he's not on the 15 man roster and is not one of the two-way players.

Yes, but can't that change by cutting another current contract or 2-way?

Yes, but who would they cut for Yante?
Poirer has a guaranteed multi-year contract.
I doubt Green or Waters would be cut for Yante.

That is most definitely above my pay grade.

Re: Vincent Poirier's Injury Update
Not to mention they can always turn to G Williams or Semi. Small ball options and not ideal, but Stevens already prefers using them over Poirier.
Poirier going down just doesn't look like any big deal at all. He's practically in the witness protection program. I'm more concerned with R Williams, Smart and whatever is ailing Tatum.

This is turning into a multi-car pileup.
I do not recall any Celtics team that has been hit with so many injuries and illnesses.

Re: Vincent Poirier's Injury Update
thank goodness they have an early season break right now.
play back to back games including Philly, then get what a WEEK off!!
who does this scheduling in the NBA....a monkey?
sorry I got side tracked there......
I would cut and eat Poirier or Greens' deal today and sign Maten for the rest of the year. He's not anything more than an NBA back up, but he can play some and only Kanter, Theis and Poirier are bigger.
Green is redundant to me , he can play but so can Maten so give me the bigger guy with this roster. ESPECIALLY with the injuries right now.

Sooner or later the Celtics will come to the conclusion that too many tweeners on the team limits your options.
Mateen is the classic tweener. He is only 6 ' 7"

you may be correct on Maten's new height, but he is NOT a tweener (ala Semi). he is closer to a classic NBA PF, however limited in his upside he may be.
Like i said, I'd rather have him on the roster over Green at this point. But then maybe I see us having way too many guys under 6-5 on the team myself.

Semi, Grant Williams, Maten..all undersized PF's.
The Celtics are missing size at the 4. The Celtics are missing athleticism at the 4. I do not think cutting VP or Green to sign Maten moves the bar for us. My biggest concern about this team since the beginning of this season has been at PF. Going into the draft that looked like our #1 need. It was not addressed. It was not addressed in FA. It was not addressed through any trades.

That’s got to be the worst hand injury I’ve ever seen, so bad he’s got to lie down in a hospital...????
That’s bad

Cow,
He has IVs in back of his left hand. They don't like patients practicing their low post moves when they're hooked up like that.

#NEBHInjuryReport Vincent Poirier underwent successful surgery this morning to fix a fracture of the proximal phalanx on his right pinkie finger. The surgery was performed by Dr. Herve Kimball at New England Baptist Hospital, assisted by Celtics Team Physician Dr. Tony Schena.

Re: Vincent Poirier's Injury Update
Obviously, I am not glad that Poirier is injured, but I do think that it is funny that a 'Poirier Injury' thread was created. Perhaps a little tongue-in-cheek?
Even before being injured, this guy was every bit as much a wasted roster spot as any other guy I can remember in recent Celtics history. I have mentioned on several other threads ("Where's Poirier?" for example) my thoughts regarding this guy.
As a Cs fan, I hope that this guy heals quickly, but still think that Fall would be a much better guy for the active roster.

Gee, he seems to be in good spirits. Hospital beds are so small.
