One player that would step in to help fill the void left by Bradley is Keyon Dooling, but Rivers said Dooling will miss Friday's practice due to illness, leaving his status for Saturday's Game 7 up in the air.

"Keyon is not here, he's sick," Rivers said. "We're just going to see how he feels. Obviously with Avery being out Keyon plays a big role, so we need him to get healthy soon."

In other injury news, Rivers noted that Greg Stiemsma's ailing feet are finally feeling better.

"Greg's feeling better, which is good," Rivers said.

Bradley just had surgery on BOTH shoulders.

It looks like the Celtics are in the same shape as Redford & Newman were at the conclusion of Butch Casidy & the Sundance Kid, or Davey Crockett and his crew at the Alamo (not car rental company) just not enough amunition to contend with the enemy. I wonder if the C's are hopelessly behind late in the game if the Garden Fans will start a chant of Beat The Heat for the Sixers like the '83 Garden crowd started a Beat LA for the '83 Sixers when it was evident the C's were not going to win game seven of that series. Bradley's had surgery, Pierce & Allen need surgery, Lord knows what Stiemsma, & Pietrus need. How much more can we humanly expect this team to give. They will give an effort I'm sure will make Celtic fans proud under trying circumstances.

WALTHAM -- As the Celtics prepare for Game 7 Saturday night at TD Garden against the Sixers, Avery Bradley is resting after surgery Friday on both shoulders, a source with direct knowledge of the situation tells WEEI.com.

The source confirms that Bradley had surgery on Friday and is expecting a summer-long rehab program that could last up to four months. If all goes as expected, Bradley should be ready for training camp in October.

Bradley initially injured the rotator cuff in his left shoulder but after playing with the injury, he also injured the right shoulder to the point where it needed to be repaired as well. Bradley had the left shoulder pop out in the third quarter of Game 4 against the Sixers and missed Games 5 and 6 before deciding to have surgery on Friday, performed by team doctor Brian McKeon, so that he could be ready for training camp in October.

Ray Allen started in place of Bradley and will start again Saturday night in Game 7.

DOOLING RETURNS TO CELTICS PRACTICE

WALTHAM -- Already without Avery Bradley, the Celtics practiced on Friday without backup guard Keyon Dooling, who was out sick. Dooling returned to the team Saturday morning for its shootaround before Game 7 with the Sixers. The team worked on half-court set as per usual with no conditioning drills. Before the shootaround, the team also watched film.

With Bradley out and Ray Allen nursing two sore ankles, Dooling figures to see more playing time in Saturday night's decisive game. In another positive sign, Greg Stiemsma took part on Saturday, a day after Doc Rivers said the backup center's feet were "feeling better." During Game 6 in Philadelphia, Rivers said that Stiemsma asked out of the game because he was in pain.

"He couldn't play in the second half the other night," Doc Rivers said on Friday. "Funny, I put him and he walks up and says, 'I can't go.' I thought he was walking up to go in. But he feels better and that's good."

Allen and Paul Pierce, nursing a sprained MCL in his left knee, are expected to start in Game 7.

i remember a time a few yrs ago when the question was being asked, can the team get over the hump so to speak? atlanta was a pain in the arse.. ditto for detroit and especialy the Cavs- despite having King Nothing! then some C's fans got all worried about the yella and poypul..


back then,, and now i'm gonna look to cinema for one of the all time great charecters for some strenth and encouragment for ya'll..

Regardless of how this series ends, Garnett, Allen & Pierce are grown men, mature enough to NOT make spur (not San Antonio) of the moment career decisions. I'm reasonably certain they will take stock of their injuries, what it will take to mend and recouperate, what the club will have to supplement and compliment them next year. If the percentages weigh in their favor they'll be back, if not, the Celtic management will have a night where #'s 20, 5, & 34 are raised to the rafters and wait 5 years for HOF inductions.
