The Boston Celtics and their fans can breath signs of relief. Star guard Kemba Walker was released from a Denver hospital Friday night after suffering an apparent neck injury against the Nuggets. Walker, who was stretchered off the court and later diagnosed with concussion-like symptoms, rejoined the team for its return to Boston.

While a severe injury apparently has been ruled out, concussions are no less serious. It remains to be seen how much time, if any, Walker will miss. The Celtics eventually suffered a 96-92 loss to finish their West Coast trip with a 2-3 record.

Whew! I wonder how he would play wearing a Patriots helmet.

Per Basketball Reference Semi’s nicknames include: Muscles Jesus, The Ox, Thor, and The Man Made of Granite.

No mention made of any damage to Semi's abdomen. None at all.

The Boston Celtics announced on Sunday that Kemba Walker is doubtful to play in Monday’s game against the Sacramento Kings with a neck sprain.

Walker ran head first into Semi Ojeleye in the second quarter of Boston’s loss to the Denver Nuggets on Friday night. He was taken off the court on a stretcher and evaluated at the arena. At that point, the Celtics said Walker was suffering from concussion-like symptoms, but it was apparent that he had avoided a more serious injury.


“All the scans that he went through at halftime yielded good results,” Brad Stevens said after the game. “I saw him in the ambulance at halftime that took him to the hospital and he had his wherewithal and was in decent spirits, which was good, obviously.”

He was released from the hospital a few hours later and was healthy enough to travel back to Boston with the team. It’s unclear if the concussion-like symptoms remain.

“It hurt and seeing anybody carried off on the stretcher after getting hurt like that, it’s tough,” Marcus Smart said after the game. “We’re just glad he’s OK and it’s not too serious. He’s going to recover. Our prayers are up for him. We hope and wish him get well very soon, but it’s a scary thing to see.”

MY NOTE:  This is EXCELLENT news!!!  After what we saw, both the accident as well as watching him getting rolled out on a stretcher, this is as good as it gets.  If you'll notice, there's no mention of Kemba entering the NBA's concussion protocol.  He may have, we don't know, but the fact that hasn't been announced is interesting.

We play Sacto tomorrow in Boston.  We play the Kyrie-less Nyets on Wednesday.  We play the Nyets in Brooklyn on Friday (watch the delicate little flower suddenly be able to play when he is in Brooklyn) and then we play the Knicks on Sunday (one week from today, in NY) and the Heat on Wednesday 12/4.  So Kemba could take off for another week-and-a-half and we'd hardly miss him due to the softness of our schedule. It'd be nice to have him back for Miami but it's more important that he's 100% than that he plays.
