Marcus went over earlier this year. I remember reading about it around the time he had his 11 made 3 point game against the Suns. I don’t know who the other player is but Marcus is definitely over 500.

You are (and were) correct.  Sorry.  I guess that there are five players besides Pierce that have made over 500 three pointers.

The site that I looked at hasn't added in the 2019-2020 season numbers yet, possibly since the season isn't "over" yet.  

Marcus Smart has hit 575 three point shots in his career as a member of the Boston Celtics.

The other player is Avery Bradley, with 520 three-point shots made.

It has to be someone who was drafted originally by the Celtics, was involved in multiple championships and then traded away.

My son has been enjoying your questions/trivia daily. You know, it is the little things in life right now!! He is on furlough and getting rather bored. So he is the one who called me with that question this afternoon.  I have impressed him with some of my answers, the kid thinks the memory is going!!!!! 

Max left here (by a Red trade that brought us Walton), and I have heard him tell stories about how he was offered a job by Volk but the condition was he had to go apologize to Red!!! His reaction was “for what, he traded me” but he did it and that is how he got the color job with Grande. So I rule him out.

I agree, NO ONE for the Celtics.  I searched for a while, thinking it had to be out there.  Nothing.

At first, I thought it might be Ainge, nothing there.

Then I thought it might be KG, but I didn't find anything on that either.

However, for the NY Knicks, Amar'e Stoudemire did it in 2016.  I don't know why he picked those losers over the Suns.

Luol Deng signed one-day contract and retired as a Chicago Bull in 2019.

That's about all I could find.

So, Stoudemire in 2016, Pierce in 2017 and Deng in 2019.  If there was a rule against it, there isn't one anymore.

We also got Jonas Jerebko and Luigi Datome at the trade deadline that year. GiGi became a fan favorite and Jonas became a solid player for the next few seasons.
