RosalieTCeltics wrote:Sam Jones was one of the best shooters I ever watched. I just loved him. As you might remember, our Sam arranged for Sam to call me after I had my open heart surgery. It was the thrill of a lifetime, and he was such a kind sweet man.
Your last question made me laugh as you put a clue in there that, unless you watched Sam in that time, you would not know. I was in the hospital for 7 weeks in Cambridge recouperating and the nurses became aware of my love of the Celtics because I wore Celtic tshirts given out if you attended playoff games. I had a bunch of them. There was a gentleman in the rehab whose daughter worked in the offices of the Celtics. The nurses told him about me and we bumped into each other in the rehab room every now and then. He had a 2008 championship ring that the Celtics management had given to workers that year. He was so proud of it.
Anyway......after this long story, he thought he could stump me. He asked what Sam Jones used to say to Wilt when he came to block his shot all the time. I answered him 'TOO LATE"
He laughed when he realized I wasn't just blowing smoke about being a die hard fan.
So when I saw your post, that little clue made me laugh.
Just another boring story of someone who is dying for this season to get rolling!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks Gyso, you brought a smile to my face!!!
“Another boring story....”. Oh no Rosalie these type of stories from you and others make this Forum a superb place. Please keep them coming!

Wonder why Danny did not think about him to sign? Too many injuries? He signed with Miami. Seems Pat Riley watches Danny's throw away's closely.

Not to disregard your post Gyso, That was definitely THE GREATEST GENERATION. They knew what honor was, family importance, friendships, devotion to country. So many enlisted long before they were drafted. My Dad and his brother entered the Navy. This was one wonderful generation

To the Pistons for trouble maker Marcus Morris. The move opened up a little more cap space to sign Gordon Hayward as a free agent

dboss,
Yes, Danny Ainge was taken #31 overall in the 1981 NBA Draft. That makes you think that he was taken with the first pick in the second round (that was my first thought), but he wasn't.
He was taken with the 8th pick in the second round. There were only 23 teams in the NBA at the time.
They had 10 rounds in the 1981 draft. So many of these players just never made it to the league.

GYSO
Ok here is a trivia question for you and the rest of the forum.
There were two dynasties founded in 1946. Yes the Boston Celtics were one of the two dynasties, which was the other?

Cleveland Browns, 4 straight AAFC TITLES then an NFL title in their first year following the demise of the AAFC and merger with the NFL.

Yes, but I should have clarified, that the other dynasty that started came on the same day as the Boston Celtics first game.

THE ANSWER IS JOHN KENNEDY WON HIS SEAT FOR CONGRESS ON THE SAME DAY THE CELTICS PLAYED THEIR FIRST GAME, AND USHERED IN THE KENNEDY DYNASTY.

112288,
Yes. Even though he had a horrible batting average, it was better than Jordan's.
