Romeo Langford, Josh Richardson and a top-4 protected 2022 first-round pick are going to San Antonio. The Spurs will also have rights to swap first-round picks with Boston in 2028.

Doing a bit of research, and Derrick White is an analytics nerd's dream - solid player on both ends, high bb iq, reasonable contract, entering his prime. Plus, Ime must know him. This might work out...

Freedom and Dozier are now out of the league. And that's after Freedom became our new 3-point weapon!!

3:16 p.m. ET: The Orlando Magic, who acquired P.J. Dozier from Boston earlier Thursday, have announced they have waived Dozier. The guard has been out since November with a torn ACL in his left knee.

3:13 p.m. ET: Once the Rockets-Celtics trade is official, Houston will waive Enes Freedom, a source tells ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. Freedom averaged 3.7 points and 4.6 rebounds in 35 games for the Celtics this season.

Eliminate the 2022 first rounder and the Richardson/Langford trade for White is ok. The first rounder makes this trade look like a dumb decision. replace that 1st with a second and I would be feeling a lot better.

We have not done one damn thing to improve our shooting. Our defense should be a little better with Theis over Freedom. Ball handling is a wash or less and depth goes down overall.

White is pretty good with the ball. Nearly 6 assists, low turn over. The pick this summer doesn't bother me as much as the swap in 2028 when we might be rebuilding again. While my first instinct on hearing about the White trade was wtf, I'm warming up to it. Celtics will be fierce on D. While White is not shooting the 3 well this year, he was decent the previous 2 years. With Jaylen and Jayson drawing so much attention, he will have a second more to get his shot off. That extra time could really cause his percentage to spike like Richardson's did this year.

Was wondering the same thing. Didn't Ainge do that with Gary Payton in the early 2000s and they changed the rules to prevent it from happening again?

If we continue to play well we won't be anywhere close to the lottery this year. So I don't know that we're losing all that much on the pick. While I liked both Josh and Romeo (I would have preferred to send Nesmith), it looks to me like we're getting a solid PG to replace the one and done Schroder. The rest of the players (Bol, Dozier, Freedom, and Fernando) we lost were not significant. But the addition of Theis is a major upgrade. I seem to remember we were all tearing hair when he left. Both White and Theis should fit into the rotation nicely. So MS, 2Js, and the two big lineup starts, with Grant, White, Theis, PP, and Nesmith off the bench. Throw in Hauser as a potential emergency sharpshooter, and some "body" and that's not a bad roster.

The more I read about White, the better I feel about this trade:

14.1 ppg
3.53 rebounds per game (pretty good for a guard)
5.59 assists per game (ok, not Chris Paul but entirely respectable)
1.0 steals per game
0.85 blocks per game (pretty damn good for a guard; best was Michael Jordin with 0.9)
87% on fritos (pretty damn good)
3.15 assist to turn over ratio (pretty damn solid).

I predict Boston fans are going to embrace this guy; tough defender, high bbiq, non-diva, reasonable contract, fits thr 2Js timeline
