MY NOTE:  My favorites are in bold.  Which are yours?



Boston is very focused, both defensively and offensively, on the modern game of 3s and layups. Nets definitely are not that.


the strength of the Celtics' defense might hurt the Nets a bit less than your average team, because neither Durant nor Kyrie needs a mismatch to score efficiently in isolation. That negates some of the power of the switch-everything defense.   Defense is probably a bigger concern for the Nets than offense.   (MY NOTE:  Defense is definitely a bigger concern for them.  As far as the Nets not needing a mismatch that works both ways.  We can switch without giving up a mismatch which means there will be fewer easy possessions for KD and KI)

Drummond gets abused in PnRs. Yes he could hurt the Celtics on the offensive glass but they’re going hunt Drummond down on defense.

There was a time right after the trade when people here called Drummond "an unplayable bum".

Drummond is a fat load of over the hill.   He is stronger and bigger than Horford and Theis but there is zero reality where he has ever been faster or quicker than either them at any point in any of their careers.

Quite evenly matched. Brooklyn matches up well against the Celtics' biggest strength (defense) - because their two most potent scorers have effective mid-range games.

To me, the Celtics have the advantage of having played together quite a bit more, strong momentum (having won 12 of 16 since beating the Nets compared to the Nets winning 13 of 22 since that game) and being consistently better defensively.

Nets in 6.  Celtics fans learn truly how good KD is (they seem to have forgotten. A bunch of southie idiots)   (MY NOTE:  "Southie idiots"?  Sounds like he knows his way around Beantown)

The last several matchups, it's been Tatum that's been the best player on the floor.

All of Boston is terrified of Durant and it's been unanimous consensus he is the best player in the world.  But Tatum against Nets defense (ie Mills, Dragic, Kyrie Drummond over and over)  vs  Durant vs Brown, Tatum, Smart, Theis, Horford, Grant

The Celtics have an army of guys to tire Durant over the course of the series. The Nets have an army of guys to give Tatum practice shots.

Tatum is not Giannis or LeBron, he is a great scorer, but the bigger challenge would be Giannis if we advance.

I was a huge Tatum basher and thought (still think) he is more focused on sucking up to KD and Kyrie and his 2k rating than actually winning. But he has been a monster this year. He's been fringe elite defensively, he's miles better than Giannis on offense, and as a passing wing he has 100% been elite and is much better than Giannis. Giannis is a better rebounder and better defender.

I’m expecting the refs also to be against the Nets unfairly in this series  I’d personally like to see the Nets go to the NBA prior to the series and file a written statement of what actions will be taken by the organization against the NBA with the officials if the games are not officiated consistently for both sides and cite the recent Atlanta game as an example. They won’t do this, but they really need to.   (MY NOTE:  For the record both teams took 29 ftas.  Anytime a visiting team can get the same number of ftas as the home team they have nothing to complain about)

I'll stick to my original prediction of Nets in 6 assuming no Ben or Timelord.  No doubt we are winning game 1.   Let's make it 4-0 in the playoffs vs Boston.

if Boston lose Game 1 then the series is over.

I'm actually most considered about the coaching matchup vs the player match-up.
Ime Udoka vs Steve Nash, might become an issue. Just saying that it's something worth noting considering Ime Udoka coached alot of the current players(knows their weaknesses and strengths) and helped Nash grow as a coach.

Ime Udoka vs Steve Nash, does that scare you as much as it does me.

Not me. Nash got the better of Brad Stevens and he was a pretty good coach.

You could have selected a random guy from the crowd to coach the Nets that series and they would have won. Didn't have anything to do with the coaching.    You think a Celtics team that had to start Romeo Langford stood a chance against a Nets team with a healthy James Harden, Kyrie Irving and KD? Lol

Can't let Smart and Pritchard knock down open 3's. Tatum's going to get his so we need to prevent those other folks from beating us

Nets shot 70% vs. Al Horford switches in the regular season.  

Nash can't be bothered with analytical data though.  Nash will not hunt Horford on switches once.  

I think people are way to high on the Celtics without Robert Williams in general.

I don't like starting in Boston. I'm worried our players safety. Beginning of the series is always more rabid. TD Garden did a good job escorting fans out for violent/racist language last year and arrested the guy who threw an object at our players. but we need to increase our own security.

I have this series as Boston in 5 games unless ben makes a huge impact and plays.   Coaching is so lopsided. Coaching could realistically be a +25-30 point advantage for Boston

The more I think about it, the more angrier I become. We should not be sitting here thinking we're going to lose, but our defense is going to absolutely concede open threes to Tatum, Brown, and Smart. BY DESIGN.

I think the Celtics offense will not be as difficult to guard as other teams we have faced.  They don't have many great shooters.   Smart, White, Horford cannot shoot well. Jaylen Brown is ok. Its really just Tatum.

Issue is, Nash wont adjust and will do stupid stuff. Like letting Tatum hunt Curry on pick and rolls with us switching and watching Tatum drop 40+. They have some bad shooters, but Smart always shoots well vs us and even blah shooters become better with wide open uncontested looks.

We have almost ZERO shot vs. Boston with Nash as coach. we basically need Kyrie/KD to Be Kyrie/Lebron from the '16 finals. both dropping 40 points a night

Everything good that Marks has done was pi**ed away once he hired Nash.

The clippers lost PG and Kawhi. We at least had 1 or 2 of Harden/Kyrie/KD all year. our injury issues are way overblown. last year KD missed a ton of time. We had an 18-2 stretch with KD out last year. Difference is we had D'antoni/Ime to babysit

By a wide margin the team with the largest amount of annoying fans on are Celtics fans.  Please send them home.   They are insufferable.  [from a Cavs fan]

We had a 3 point lead with 45 seconds to go and apparently two of the best scorers in the game.  We let Brown waltz into a layup and then let the one guy we didn’t want to beat us win with a wide open layup at the buzzer.  It’s like **** ing clockwork.

Kyrie has to trust a teammate if they triple him. I can’t believe we lost that way.

The Celtics acquired White and Theis less than two months ago, yet Udoka doesn’t seem to constantly make excuses about their team not having much experience together.

With jaylen Brown on the bench and white in the court. We definitely made our runs with White on the court

Hate to say it, but I think KD is tired. Guy hasn’t been himself recently. Too many minutes on old legs. The 40 MPG is catching up to him - fine for young guys to do that but KD is not young.

The Jaylen Brown possession was much worse than Tatum.  We didn't even get back on defense. At WORST we could have wasted a bunch of time.  This team plays dumb.

Both teams were playing pretty physical. There was a lot of missed calls both ways.

We just need Ben. Even if they bring Bob, Ben is the answer to most of our issues.

You are overly confident. If Rob is back, Celtics would be formidable. It's going to be a long series.

Just a brutal loss... There really are no silver linings. We all knew Boston's vaunted defense wasn't as good as the hype, but this was a game the Nets had in hand.   (MY NOTE:  "We all knew"?  Well, you all were wrong)

Despite the L, i never wanna hear jayson tatum’s name mentioned anywhere near kyrie’s in terms of being better or close.

You crazy, Tatum is great.

tatum is mentally weak. When his team not doing well he loses all confidence. Meanwhile kyrie maintains composure. Ain’t no way y’all comparing a dude who still hasn’t proven much in the post season to the guy who sealed game 7 vs arguably the best team in the last 20 years to win a championship.

Tatum is elite on both ends of the ball. This was a relatively quiet game from him.

all we play is iso bssketball, honestly im sick watching it. its a pleasure to watch team basketball by tatum brown, but also horford smart almost equally important.

I still consider this a win for the Nets... Nearly won on the road against a 2 seed

But it’s counted as a loss, celts in 4.

This was the game we had to steal. I'm much less optimistic for Game 2.

This is the kind of game that can have a bleeding effect on the rest of the series

We can win if Tatum drops 31, just 3 pts more than his average. We're not winning if Horford keeps dropping 20

I thought Smart was the MVP for them to the very last play. He faked a 3, could’ve taken the last shot but passed it to a cutting Tatum

Nets were fortunate to get the lead in the 4th, largely on no-calls on obvious fouls by Kyrie.

KD is gonna have his hands full this series, they were pushing him off his spot and more focused on him than KI. His jumper got straight up blocked by Tatum. That never happens to KD, and doesn’t bode well. Not counting him out at all, but they are in his grill.

Tough loss. Could Jaylen Brown have had an easier drive to the basket to get Boston within 1? How could Kyrie lose track of Tatum with 3 secs left on the clock? We lost this game because two undersized players could not stop Brown and Tatum down low when it mattered the most. Period.

Today I was reminded how much I hate Boston fans

Why do the refs allow Boston to play such physical defense, but if we match their physicality we get called bs fouls?  It just doesn't feel fair the way they're calling it.  Not to mention smart is always flopping and flailing dangerously all over the court, but that's considered high IQ and not reckless?

I actually want Williams to come back. Horford was dynamite tonight. Having less shooters on the floor is better for us.  (MY NOTE:  If/when RWill comes back it'll be Theis who sits, not Al.  Theis is nice, I've always been a fan of his, but he's not a game-changer like RWill)

I'm actually most considered about the coaching matchup vs the player match-up.
Ime Udoka vs Steve Nash, might become an issue. Just saying that it's something worth noting considering Ime Udoka coached alot of the current players(knows their weaknesses and strengths) and helped Nash grow as a coach.
Ime may have planted the seed but someone forgot to add water. That sir is a weed cleverly disguised as a former Point Guard.
