I like this pick. Had not paid that much attention to
Scheierman before the draft. A very sensible pick given the Celts situation.

I understand the need for a 5 but we do have Kornet and a project on the roster already.

Maybe this means that we are keeping Kornet and/or Tillman while we develop Queta.

Those are telling numbers, gyso.  Looks like a great pick for us.  He's got 4 years of college under his belt as well and can blend in better.  Hopefully, Brad keeps him, but if he doesn't, we've all learned that Brad knows best!

Time for Round 2 and the Bronny Awards.

My sister flew from Logan to Tampa yesterday sitting next to Sam Hauser! Even though she's good friends with Patricia Cousy ( they went to high school together for 4 years - 200 feet from Patty's home and 800 feet from our home), my sister knows zippo about basketball. If I'd been in her seat, I would have probably been an obnoxious fan next to Sam. One takeaway her son told me: the new nickname for Sam And Baylor - Active Shooters!

With KP going under the knife and an unknown gap in his availability, the center spot is still a question mark.  We have enough depth to eat up the minutes but outside of Al Horford we will not be able to have a stretch 5 on the court.  

Any guesses on how much it will cost to bring Kornet back next year?  I think Boston would be more than willing to bring all of our centers back on 1 year deals but Kornet is going to want a 2 year deal.  He is 3rd on the depth chart and with KP out he moves up to #2.  Maybe you do 1 year with a partially guaranteed 2nd year.

As I watched center prospects come off the board yesterday I would only speculate about round 2 at 55.  Kyle Filipowski will be gone by then.  Maybe the Celtics could trade up in the 2nd, high enough to get Ulrich Chomche.  He would be a prospect and you could put him on a 2-way that does not count against the CAP.

There are still several wings and forwards remaining as well.  

Brad actually made a pick at 30 so it should remind everyone that you cannot and should not pigeonhole Brad Stevens.

OMG!  Can someone nuke the Knicks and all their motormouth media heads!!  Oh yeah, that will be us!!  Your team still sucks and worse yet, you're still the KNICKS!!  

I can't remember which thread I posted on recently, but the Knicks future is tied to Steven A. Smith and whether he lays off the Cowboys and all their season and post-season gyrations going forward.  IMHBAO, Knicks = Cowboys on many fronts, first and foremost the end-all be-all final results are 0 titles in an eternity.  Then you can add recent playoff performances where he picked the Knicks to be in the ECF.  You can't argue, they do look quite similar.  I'm surprised that as how smart a man as Steven A. is, he hasn't connected the dots and either keep his yap shut or actually start throwing positive vibes the Cowboy's way.  I have no dog in that fight.  If I'm any kind of football fan, I'm a Redskin.  

But you know Steven A. will never back off and get off that high hatin' horse he's on against the Cowboys.  The Cowboy fans, the one's he loathes for their obnoxiousness, are the very ones feeding his ego and now in turn will be forever keeping the Knicks from winning anything and continuing on for many more years of mediocrity as has been the path for darn near my lifetime.  You gotta love this!  Hence the results for his beloved Knicks will be the exact same as the Cowboy's results will continue to be....Goose, Goose, Baby.       

When does next season start?!!  Dang, I can't wait!!

I like that nickname!!  It won't win any politically correct awards.  That's probably why I like it so much!!  Maybe we have the makings of Splash Brothers, Jr.!!

If you look at the top contenders in the East:

Indy - no first round pick

Heat added Ware which should help their frontline defense.

Magic needed more scoring and added a wing in Tristan da Silva

Bucks just need to get younger but drafting the 167 lbs kid in AJ Johnson will not help them anytime soon.

Knicks added a wing but they really could use another playmaker.

Sixers - added a really good guard Jared McCain out of Duke but at only 6' 2"  the Sixers still lack size in the backcourt plus their center vulnerability with Embid getting injured over and over again was not addressed.

Nothing in the draft changes the landscape in the East.  The Celtics got better with their wing addition and the 3 point scoring he can provide.

I was not going to say anything about the 'Active Shooters'  reference but I have to.

I find the nickname to be quite distasteful.  I recall when Washington dropped the name 'Bullets'

dboss...you're right. Too many people have been killed or hurt by active shooters. We'll drop that phrase from our lexicon, but it may surface elsewhere since I did not make it up. We just need not repeat it.

Now if Sam and Baylor played for Milwaukee, they could be called the Three Point Bucks. We'll have to come up with something else.

Yes it is a most serious problem in our country.  Each incident takes its' place in the 48 hour news cycle but the frequency of those incidents threatens our humanity.  It has a numbing effect.  

Anyways, I am happy that the Celtics drafted Baylor.  I think Sam will get even better at his craft and both of them can be quality depth pieces on a championship ball club.
