AN URGENT REQUEST FROM THE POSTER KNOWN AS 112288

A Very Important Message to the Board:

I've received an email from the poster known as 112288. As you probably know, he's an administrator on this forum, and he frequently initiates threads containing news items and post-game summaries. You may not know how extremely active he has been in doing things for other people through our charitable endeavors and other initiatives.

He has been having difficulty logging on. I hope I was able to help him with that. In the meantime, and far more important, he asked me to reach out for the prayers of the board for his 21-year-old daughter, Chloe, who was hospitalized this past weekend after she suddenly lost the sight in one eye. In the past, Rich has shared with me stories and pictures that clearly bespeak his justifiable pride and love for this lovely young woman. Among many other achievements, she is captain of her college tennis team.

Rich's final words, "I am heartbroken," really got to me, partly because that's a really big heart. He's not looking for anything other than our love and prayers for Chloe. I hope we can inundate Rich with our heartfelt messages of support.

Rich, please let Chloe know that she's uppermost in the hearts and prayers of Sally and me. We hope that, in some way, she will feel the energy this board is capable of mounting through our collective compassion. And, when you have an opportunity, please update us on her progress.

Its been said that "the Boston Celtics are not a team, they are a way of life" its also true of being a fan of said team. This board is a prime example of that, wether we're enjoying the avatars, sharing in having pride and joy for the accomplishments of the board members and ther families accomplishments or offering encouragment to one another during health issue's i think we do a damn good job of being there for one another.

Rich, i'm sure i speak for everyone when i say Chloe will be in our thoughts and prayers..

Count me as one of the many recipients of Rich's abundant generosity. He helped me without even being asked. He's a rare individual, talented, committed, kindhearted, and a gentlemen in the first degree. I believe in the power of prayer and positive thinking so all my prayers are going out to Chloe until she gets better.

As you and others well know I have a daugter also, she will be 20 this summer. My kids are both the world to me and when they hurt I hurt. I'm sure its the same with you. You just want to put them in bubble wrap and protect them. You can from many things but heath issues you have so little control over and the trust to have the best medical care you can is so important to all.

My family will be praying for Clhoe. She will be in our thoughts.

Here is a website that I recently became a part of. Two young students that are involved in local schools have cancer. Their families have joined this site and post updates and share things on it. Perhaps it is something you might find useful. You can share her story with lots of people that are dealing with health related issues for their children.

One of the yougsters I mentioned is in Marcus's grade. Just a couple of weeks ago he developed a cough. Well the cough didn't go away and a scan revealed that nearly one entire lung was a tumor. He has a long way to go, so far so good with him. The family used this site and have found it helpful.

Chloe is at the top of my list 1122, as you are. You are a strong guy and will weather this just fine. I hope that this all levels out and that your daughter regains the use of her eye and is able to keep playing tennis a game I love and admire at a high level.

Just know that everyone here at the board is heavy in your corner. The caring bridge website is excellent. Really excellent my friend Virginia updated everyone on her cancer through that website and it wound up being an easy way to communicate both how she was doing and how others felt about her illness and her as a person. Very moving and meaningful to her.

We are headed into NY Presbyterian Weil Cornell Hospital tomorrow to meet with one of worlds leading Neuro Doc's who is a specialist in virus' that attack the eyes and neuro parts of the body. I will keep everyone updated and again I want to thank everyone for their warm and heartfelt response and caring! It truly helps me get through a world that is now upside down and I know I do have a very large extended family..........again it really...REALLY HELPS!
