Sam said that Ainge is looking to acquire Steve Nash as a defensive stopper in case he can't re-sign Avery Bradley...
LOL
It worries me. Sam's not responding. I hope he is on the phone with DA giving him last minute suggestions.
Is it 7:30pm EST, yet?

Worst case scenario for the Lakers tonight:
Wiggins, Parker, Embiid, Exum, Vonleh and Smart are all taken when they draft at #7. I think they will pass on Randle and pick Elfrid Payton.

Payton's shooting makes Rondo look like Jerry West by comparison. Good D but who will score for them besides Kobe - and long term?

I know very little about Payton. I've never seen him play.
I see that he averaged 19/6/6 this year.
I have no idea who will be on the Lakers this year.
Right now it's only Kobe, Nash and Sacre.

Re: Draft Day Thread
I wish Kobe were running the team, not Buss. He'd make things happen. As much as I want the Celts to increase their lead in championships over the Lakers, I hate to see a proud opponent crumble. I'd especially hate to see Kobe waste his last few good years on a lackluster team. I do think he has plenty of good basketball left in him.

USA vs. Argentina? that game would get very Messi real early.
Latest ridiculous rumor I heard is that the Celts want to trade Rondo for the Lakers #7 pick. Only a few more hours until this madness stops.

Re: Draft Day Thread
I'm feeling like Rip Van Winkle, with more rumors suddenly involving me than there are involving the Celtics. No, Bob, I'm not at all distraught that the Celtics didn't get Asik. My policy in any life event that goes sour is immediately to switch to what's next and how to accomplish it. I have absolutely zero seconds to devote to rehashing what might have been. Then is not now. That might not work for everyone but it even worked when I got divorced.

In case it hasn't been stated elsewhere the draft begins at 7:00 p.m. EST and may be seen on my most disliked network....ESPN.

Sam,
The draft preview starts at 7 and the draft starts at 7:30.

TJ,
Yeah, I know the first 30 minutes is filled with boilerplate hype. But ESPN (despite my antipathy for them) is most likely to be the first source of trade and other developments, so I'll watch the preview.

Sam,
ESPN seems to have cornered the market on hiring terrible analysts.

Danny just confirmed to an ESPN reporter (is that an oxymoron?) that he's leaning toward keeping #6 and 17 and, if there's any trading of picks, it's more likely to be down than up.

I think Boston will have to choose between Vonleh and Smart.

I still cannot believe the Cavs have 3 #1 picks in 3 years and 4 in 7 years.

Too bad we can't issue a gag order on both Jalen Rose and Bill Simmons.

It's not that big of a deal.
If Anthony Bennett was in this years draft, he would not be a lottery pick.
They blew last years pick.

Re: Draft Day Thread
Running Synopsis:
Late notes: This is a long 5 minutes for pick #1. Is there a deal afoot? Nope.
Wiggins sounds like an Academy Award attendee, describing his outfit including the designer.
I want Wiggins' teeth.
I think Jabari needs to understand the definition of the word "understatement."
Now I want Gortat more than ever.
They just wished Embiid a long and successful career in Philly, and he looked like he wanted out a.s.a.p.
I know NYCelt loves Smart, but I feel as though I just used one of Danny's fireworks as a suppository.
#1 Cleveland: Wiggins
#2 Milwaukee: Parker
#3 Philadelphia: Embiid
#4 Orlando: Gordon
#5 Utah: Exum
#6 Boston: Smart
#7 LA Lakers: Randle
#8 Sacramento: Stauskas
#9 Charlotte: Vonleh
#10 Philadelphia: Payton
#11 Denver: McDermott
#12 Orlando: Saric
#13 Minnesota: LaVine
#14 Phoenix: Warren
#15 Atlanta: Payne
#16 Chicago: Nurcic
#17 Boston: Young
#18 Who cares?

TJ,
I can't believe they have that many #1s in those few years. The fact that they misused one of tem is another point completely.
