Re: Kyle anderson at SA
Not that I've had a lot of time to look today, but when I saw that's where he landed, I told my son (who goes to UCLA) that going to San Antonio was the best possible scenario for him -- a system that maximizes use of his particular skill set and where he'll likely have the luxury of coming along slowly, like Patty Mills.
From the Spurs perspective, I'm sure they would've been happy to take Wiggins or Parker if they had the chance, but Anderson is exactly the type of player they like, and they probably would've been happy to take him if they had a middle pick in the first round instead of no. 30.
Some things that I noticed in articles on a San Antonio news site:
• His nickname in college was "Slo Mo" because of his lack of athleticism.
• The Spurs thought he'd be long gone by the time their draft pick came up. The mock drafts had him going around no. 20.
• He is 6'9" with a wingspan of 7'3".
• He averaged 14.6 points, 8.8 rebounds, 6.5 assists and 1.8 steals, ranking in the top five in the Pac-12 in all four categories.
