Zeller is still un-signed I think///good guy to bring back on a minimun deal ( which is all we can do).

revised roster with the trade, as reported:

Horford
Baynes
Theis
Morris
Yabusele
Semi
Hayward
Tatum
Jaylen
Nader
Smart
IRVING
Rozier
Larkin

I could see either Zeller OR Green being brought back on minimum deals with that roster...perhaps BOTH.

I don't want to hear about Zeller, he's a soft pussy, there's a reason no one has signed him

Looks to me like the Celtics have been monitoring Jaylen Brown and have a lot of confidence that he can slide into Jae's place. I am convinced of that.  This will also put Smart in a position to put up or shut up this year.

I think back to 07-08 and a lot of bench players came in after the big trade to shore things up, so there may be more signings coming.

Will someone shut Felger up please!!!  He is such a jerk.  I saw this attitude from him when KG was signed .  He hates the Celtics so anytime he gets the chance he slams Danny.

Danny will get a lot of flack for giving up the nets pick with the other three players...until we at least beat the Cavs and get to the finals OR that pick drops out of the top 10 next year.

My guess is that Brown plays at the 2

If the deal stands as reported - its a far cry from the Cavs being forced to give up Irving for 50 cents on the dollar.

I am surprised that Ainge was not more patient in making this trade. Additional patience may have saved him either the Brooklyn pick or Zizic. He must have thought that some other team was going to beat him to Irving to move this early in what looked to me to be a "delay, delay and delay some more" type of situation.

Thomas had to go in the deal as you can not have two alpha point guards in your starting lineup who both play marginal defense. Thomas has a hip problem that may take him out of action during the season, and now becomes Cleveland's problem. Thomas will still crow about wanting max pay, and Cleveland can listen instead of Boston. Crowder probably had to go to match salaries, but I hate to see his absolutely great accountability and hustle leave town. Of course, our roster is full of guys who play his position even if many of them are still quite young.

Although the Nets pick may not have been number one again in the next draft I do not like seeing it go and especially not when Zizic is going with it. Maybe one or the other but not both.

Now,without Zizic, another big man is definitely needed in the 15th roster spot. Could be a JaMicheal Green type of guy who still does not have a roster spot anywhere and may have to sign a vets minimum deal to get work at the beginning of the season. I have seen several such names out there who are in this situation, but cannot remember anyone besides Green.

Mixed emotions right now, mostly due to the BKLN pick leaving, but if we can sign Jamichael Green I'll feel a whole lot better about our overall roster going forward.

I was thinking the same about another big man initially and thought of Zeller, but after looking at the new roster I think a SG (Green) may make more sense.... especially if they really do like Theis as a PF type.

I believe this deal puts us over the cap MORE , so we can only add a player for  a minimum contract

http://www.spotrac.com/nba/boston-celtics/cap/2017/

there it si

$111.5M now.

no exceptions left.

14 players with guaranteed deals.

2 with non-guaranteed

2 - 2 way contracts

I think DA saw an opportunity and made it happen.

Irvung better than IT, Crowder replaced already, Zuzic cannot shoot frim outside and Golden Egg unlikely to be as golden as we may think.

Boston still with 5-6 first rounders

Last year's team was not a legit contender.

This current Celtics roster right now is a legit contender.
