Durant News

NBA star Kevin Durant will sign a four-year deal to play for the Brooklyn Nets, multiple outlets reported Sunday, bringing an abrupt end to one of the most hotly anticipated sagas of the NBA free agency season.
Durant was expected to reveal his free agency decision in an Instagram post on an account for The Boardroom, the superstar's sports business company. However, Fox Sports and other outlets reported that Durant was bound for Brooklyn approximately one hour before the official 6 p.m. ET start of the NBA's free agency period.
The deal cannot be officially signed until July 6 because of the league's annual moratorium.
A native of Washington, D.C., Durant was drafted out of the University of Texas with the second overall pick by the Seattle SuperSonics in 2007 and became a superstar after that franchise moved to Oklahoma City and became the Thunder.
In the summer of 2016, Durant signed a two-year deal with the Golden State Warriors, who were coming off an NBA-record 73-win regular season but had fallen to the Cleveland Cavaliers in a seven-game NBA Finals. Durant led the Warriors to the title in 2017 and 2018 and was named Finals MVP in both years.

Durant, who turns 31 in September, is a ten-time NBA All-Star and a two-time NBA Finals MVP, but he is expected to miss the entire 2019-2020 season because of a ruptured Achilles tendon he suffered in Game 5 of the NBA Finals against the eventual champion Toronto Raptors.

Re: Durant News
Well that will be interesting, a year of watching Durant lead a team by not sitting on the bench during games and a year of watching Kyrie pretend he can lead that same team all by himself.
Oh, the Humanity!!

Re: Durant News
Kyrie and Durant are two of the least-suited-for-leadership players in the NBA. Durant was supremely talented, but Dominique Williams is the only example I can think of who came back from an Achilles injury anywhere near his previous self. Kyrie is a great ball handler, and has an aesthetic smoothness to his game, but his strengths are not aligned with what it takes to win in today's NBA. This could work out great for the Nets, but it could also set them back another half-decade.

Re: Durant News
Nets continue the lunacy - inking a max deal with a 31 year old out for likely the entire season, with the most consistently debilitating injury in sports.
Good luck with that.
