MD asked so here it is Marcus update
Well about 30 games down and 20 or so left
Really busy with 2 games this past Saturday in ottawa. Game last eve, 2 this eve, 1 tomorrow, 2 Thursday and 2 more Saturday. Good chance that his travel team will make it to the states and the other one win their league. I think the combimed record of both teams is about 25-3-2 (yes there are 2 ties)
Past weekend in Ottawa Marcus pitched against a very good team, some big kids. He went 5 innings and left with a 5-2 lead, gave up 5 singles and 2 walks and struck out 5 but the heat took it's toll and he had thrown 85 pitches so that was enough.
Unfortuately the next pitcher couldn't hold it and they ended up tieing the score in the bottom of the 7th and due to the heat and lack of many more pitchers on either team it was left as a tie. Lost the second game 13-10.
Last eve Marcus played first and hit the ball hard every time up, only got 2 hits but they were scorchers.
He absolutely crushed this one (liner to center for a single)
He's hitting .440 and his era is a little over 2 combined for both teams about 65 at bats and 30 innings pitched totals.
Averaging about 1 strikeout per inning. And the big thing is his control has been excellent with only about 2 walks per 7 inning games.
2 big games this PM against a team that we lost to 3-2 last week on a very controversial call at the plate against us for the final out.
Paybacks this eve!
And above all else he is having a great time. (of course winning most of the time helps make it a bit more fun)

Enjoy this time Beat, watching your kids do what they love is the best there is when it comes to parenting. They grow up too fast and it is all gone before you know it. So relish this and give Marcus my best wishes for the rest of the season.

Beat: Impressive Stats for the young lad! With proper coaching and development you'll need Jerry Maguire to be his agent so he can "Show Marcus the Money!" Marcus keeps this up and you'll be rollin' in more dough than a Baker! (hopefully, not Vin Baker)!-MD.

Rosalie and Md
thanks
We are savoring every moment, hard to believe he has played some form of organzed baseball for 10 years now. All those 1,000's of pitches to him in the back yard might be paying off.
Goal is only to keep improving and making sure he has the opportunity to do so. His attitude is great and he is learnign from being with better coaches and players too.

Hey Beat, glad to see Marcus is doing great, and approving with each outing. The Padres are looking for some pitching depth and to add a bat for the stretch run after the allstar break. Looks like Marcus could feel the bill for both. Think we could sign him through the end of the season?
Seriously though, looks like Marcus definately has a promising future in baseball. Overall, is he a better position player, or pitcher?

Re: MD asked so here it is Marcus update
Just got back from a double header this eve, we easily won the first game 8-1. In the second we had a 8-3 lead going into the top of the 4th inning (5 inning games) and our pitcher just got wild. Eventually they scored 4 to close to 8-7 and loaded the bases with 2 out. Marcus who was to pitch Thursday was called upon to finish this one. He got the final out that inning on a grounder and then retired the side with 1 walk in the top of the final inning as we held on to win by 1. the final 2 outs were comebackers to him that he threw to first. Got the game ball from the coach for the save. He will still be starting Thursday as he didn't throw many pitches tonight and if we win we are virtually guarenteed a trip to the states next week.
