Still don't get "Rajon Rondo can't shoot" argument. Midrange last 2 seasons: Rondo (46.6%), Tony Parker (46.1%), Russell Westbrook (40.4%).

Rondo's not a great shooter, but he's not God awful. His 3-point shooting will never be a strong point, but as long as you're money at the 2 it's fine.

I'm not sure in what respect Pierce could pass Havlicek, and I'm too lazy to look it up, and I really don't care.  But I suspect it wouldn't be in a footrace even though John has had knee and heart problems.

Best Tweets Of The Day - Page 4 Empty Re: Best Tweets Of The Day

Post by Sam Fri Aug 15, 2014 6:00 pm

I'm not certain whether or not that list is intended to demonstrate the fallacy of the newer metrics, but it does a pretty good job.  Just for starters:

• Ed Pinckney the runaway number 1 rating in offens
• Jim Ard second, Henry Finkel 5th, Glen McDonald 9th in defensive rating
• Leon Powe number one in offensive rebound percentage
• Alton Lister number one in defensive rebound percentage
• Alton Lister number one in total rebound percentage
• Nervous Pervis number two and Henry Finkel 5th in defensive rating
• Ed MacAuley number one in win shares per 48 minutes

Yes, there are some no-brainers—for example, Russ' massive lead in defensive win shares.  But, my lord, at the very least, this ought to wave the caution flag when it comes to relying on the new metrics—and the more complex the formula, the more caution should be exercised.
