THE OFFICIAL DRAFT DAY THREAD
IT'S HERE! IT'S HERE!
IT'S DRAFT DAY!!!!!!
Let's put all the draft day stuff: trades, selections, etc, here. You have an opinion about a pick, Celtic or other? Put it here.
Tomorrow being Thursday I'll probably be watching the draft from Ozuma's, enjoying fish and maybe a little sake ("little" being a relative term). That's an upgrade from the Moscow Mules I seem to have taken a liking to. I am not allowed, per my own personal edict, to have all the ingredients of a Moscow Mule in my house at the same time.
Many of the people who were fishing for better deals, will fish or cut bait tomorrow. Or, they may be waiting to see who takes whom, and then tweak the deal based upon where in the draft they were taken (e.g. if Dragan Bender is taken 5th, and someone really wants him, they'll probably have to pay a higher price than if he dropped to 9th).
Either way, the speculation ends and the reality begins. Halle-freaking-lujah!!

Re: THE OFFICIAL DRAFT DAY THREAD
Bob,
Thanks for starting a thread for everyone to gather their thoughts and reactions. This will be one of the more interesting drafts in recent memory if for no other reason than to see what the team does with an insane number of picks, three of those being first rounders.
I'll be spending draft night in the dugout, managing a playoff game. The edict has already gone out to my son and his team as well as the parents; no phones in the dugout tuned to the draft and no reports on picks from the parents. I simply don't need the distraction and don't want to know since I have no control over it. We also need my Celtic fan kid to keep his focus on the batter; 12-year olds are too easily distracted. The smell of fries coming from the concession stand is enough to contend with on it's own!
You can bet, however, that I'll check right back here not long after the game.
Regards

Re: THE OFFICIAL DRAFT DAY THREAD
is that really a blockbuster trade?
I think Danny has had that one in his back pocket since the lottery.
you want a blockbuster trade (besides the Cousins one), how about Danny get on the phone with his old buddy Mitch?
Danny: Now Mitch I know you are going after two big time free agents this year, but your roster is pretty depleted. Tell you what I have all these draft picks that I simply can't use and you have only two of 'em.
Mitch: and.....?
Danny: well....OK , look one time offer here. ALL of mine for both of yours. what do you say.........Mitch........hello?
Mitch: sounds like a fair deal to me!
Danny: I thought so too...have a nice draft night.

4 quarters does not equal a dollar when it comes to NBA trades.
Boston is loaded with picks, but I still want LA to keep Ingram.
Picks 16 and 23 probably won't be better than Thomas, Smart, Bradley and Crowder, so I am not sure how much value there is to those picks.

Re: THE OFFICIAL DRAFT DAY THREAD
My prediction: If Ainge can't pull off a deal for Butler/Boogie/some-star, then he picks Bender. Ainge has said many times that it his job not to make a panic move; he even scolded himself for almost trading those gazillion picks for Winslow last year. Hence, even if Butler is available, he might not be willing to pay what the Bulls want. I also can't believe he would trade the #3 pick for one year of Noel. To me, Okafor would make more sense, but apparently Danny is not enamored with him. That means he keeps the pick. We know he simply cannot sign all 8 picks this year, so I say he picks Bender and lets him spend another year in Israel. Its not the immediate fireworks everyone wanted, but it could pay dividends down the road. Bender could become an important piece for us, or Danny could always trade his rights. Also predict Danny pulls a Belichick and trades some picks for future picks.

Re: THE OFFICIAL DRAFT DAY THREAD
come on tj...you know you like that deal.
call Mitch up........ quick now.
think of all the possiblitys you'll have on draft night (not to mention all the slepp you'll lose staying up with all those picks!).
you want Chriss or Bender, you got him
Hield, Murray or brwon more to your likeing...yep he's yours.
at 16, yuo wnat Sabonis,Valentine, Richardson, D. Davis?..one of all could be there for your picking.
#23?......Roll the dice on Maker or Stone. or chose a more ready player in Prince or Brice?
31 and 35 picks.......have your pick of your favorite euro draft and stash and STILL have a pick for a bench playr like McCaw, Siakam or Bentil.
I'm telling you, your lakers are missing a DEAL!!!!
get Mitch on the phone quick, before danny changes his mind now.

The growing sense in league circles is that the Suns are determined to move either Bledsoe or Brandon Knight before the start of next season
bob
MY NOTE: 1 1/2 years ago, the Suns had Bledsoe, Dragic and Isaiah Thomas (which netted him Marcus Thornton, who moved on to Houston). Now they are talking about unloading the last of the 3. How Ryan McDonough keeps his job, I just don't know.
The reason why this is on the draft day thread is because any trade that creates an opening for a point guard might make them amenable to moving up, to #3, to take Dunn, IF Danny can convince them he will do it if they don't. That might be why all the talk about Chris Dunn.

Brandon Ingram is almost untouchable.
I think Boston will trade #3 to Philly before the draft for Noel and other assets.

MY NOTE: Shit! If Woj is saying it, it's probably reasonably solid. He is uncannily accurate, usually. Is Danny gaming Woj?
Bye bye, either Avery Bradley or Marcus Smart.

76ers reportedly in "Hot Pursuit" of our #3, with Noel as the bait.
Still question validity.
Still rather have Okafor.
