Re: Go Patriots!
We lost a touchdown on a play very similar to that earlier this season. This time they call it good.

Re: Go Patriots!
WORST DEFENSIVE GAME PLAN EVER!
PATRICIA HAD HIS HEAD ALREADY IN DETROIT VERSES FOCUSING!
HE HAD NO ANSWERS!
SORRY BUT MAT PATRICIA HAS BEEN VERY LUCKY OVER HIS TENURE AS DEFENSE COACH..............I NEVER LIKED HIS GAME PLANS.............NOT FOR BRADY HE WOULD NOT HAVE HAD SUCH A GREAT RECORD.
IN A WAY..........I AM GLAD WE ARE NOW IN A POSITION TO GET A NEW DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR.
THIS WAS A GAME EASILY WON.
ANOTHER ODD CALL............WHY SIT BUTLER...........I DO NOT GET THAT ONE!
WELL 5 MONTHS TO SUMMER TRAINING AND 6 TO KICK OFF TO ANOTHER SEASON!
GO PATS!

Re: Go Patriots!
Great game, a couple of calls that could have went either way (thanks football gods). 2 talented, well coached, classy teams and organizations. For us long suffering Eagle fans this is Heaven on Earth. Board members, let's take the result as an omen. A scrappy, never say die, underdog team in green knocking of the seemingly invincible defending champions. Take heed GSW!

Re: Go Patriots!
I believe Butler was sick, with the flu? I read that he tried to play on special teams early in the game, but that was it.
Bad timing to be sick, he was quite upset.

Correction: he was sick earlier in the week. It was a game time decision by the coach. Stay tuned . . .

GYSO
I read in NESN site that Butler said "they gave up on him"
Also McDaniel not ruling out staying..................perhaps Belchick moves up stairs as head of football operation.
Patricia is gone to Detroit............great........never liked his defensive plans. The argument for his plans........his defense gave up yards but did not score a lot of points...............ya but it takes a toll on your defensive unit over a season. They get physically beat-up.

Re: Go Patriots!
Regarding Butler, the latest rumor for Pats fans. And like NBA rumors, NFL rumors are often nonsense.
Speculation from my Boston friend Joe is that the word is it was a disciplinary benching. Apparently he wasn't just sick earlier, he missed the flight he was supposed to make.
Rowe found out he was starting just prior to the game, of course, at the same time Butler found out he wasn't playing as a DB, but special teams only. Hence the pre-game tears.
Bostonians in a few office buildings this morning questioning why not bench him first half only.
Like I say, just word passed down from one of my Boston resident friends. Though it would be of interest to those of you in the Bay State.

Regardless of the benching........Matt Patricia's defense has been like a Yo Yo only in a blue moon did he draw up a gem of a plan. Look at the track record......
Last year down 28 - 3 against Atlanta - second half only to have Brady bail him out...
This year in AFC Title game - down early to late against Jacksonville only to have Brady bail him out again.
You can go back for years and see a reoccurring pattern of always falling behind.
Never a fan of Patricia and his defensive program.........looking forward to a fresh approach to defense next year with new blood.
The sad thing is ..........he never made any major adjustments during the game......came back with the same old crap on every down. Not even a blitz to shake things up.

Just remember, my friend, as I've told you before, it could be worse. Try being a Bills fan.

Re: Go Patriots!
Report: Greg Schiano expected to replace Matt Patricia as Patriots defensive [/b[b]]coordinator
WEEI Ryan Hannable
BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- According to Football Scoop, which is a reliable college football coaching website, Ohio State defensive coordinator Greg Schiano is expected to be named the Patriots' new defensive coordinator and replace Matt Patricia, who will become the next coach of the Lions.
Schiano is a good friend of Bill Belichick and was around the Patriots a bunch in the few years after he was head coach of the Buccaneers (2012-13) and before he took the job at Ohio State (2016).
It was expected linebackers coach Brian Flores would take over, but if this report is true, that will of course not be the case.
[UPDATE 11 a.m.]: FS1's Bruce Feldman reports Schiano hasn't decided whether he's leaving Ohio State yet and it's unclear what will happen in New England with its defensive coordinator spot. Flores could get promoted and Schiano could join the staff in some capacity.
