This was your original comment about Artest's defense against Durant:
"Durant averaged 25 ppg and shot nearly 11 FT per game against the Lakers. If that is good defense, I will take my chances."
None of the Celtics fans on this board came to your defense on this one. You lose credibility when you make such statements which are either ill-informed or intentionally unobjective.
Anyway, I hope you have a good weekend and all you guys here enjoy the game on Saturday.
Time to log off.
TJ - first of all, I dont need anyone to come to my defense. I watch every Celtics game and nearly every other play off game myself and view it with 40 years of experience watching and playing basketball. I may not agree with you or anyone else, but I dont need anyone's validation as to what I am seeing. I know basketball....sorry to disappoint you.
Ron Artest is not NEARLY the defensive player he once was....and while he did a good job on Kevin Durant, Durant STILL got 25 points per game in that series.
Many other people in this thread have said the same thing - that Artest will not stop Pierce from scoring and even if he does shut him down from time to time, we have lots of other weapons.
If you chose to hang you hat on Artest stopping Pierce and that being some kind of key to the series - I wish you luck with that.
I am done as well...we need to beat the Magic before we start worrying with any of this anyway....so time to move on.

Fisher and kobe BOTH scare the shit outta me in the clutch and fuckabuncha stats...Gasol scares me not. I think KG is looking at him and licking his lips. Gasol mind all you Laker fans is a stone stud but one I think Boston matches up to very well.

Anyone who saw that series has to agree Artest played great defense on Durant and bothered him all series, making a huge impact,I don't know why mr kleen would deny that. And agreed Pierce will not have it as easy vs Artest as he did 2 years ago in bad match ups for your team vs Radmonovic and Luke Walton.I still believe Pierce with his smarts and craftiness will figure out some way to take over a few games in the next series. When Pierce gets in a zone he can score over anyone for a stretch, even Jordan in his prime.
cow
Once again Cow - seems I have to set you straight on what was ACTUALLY said.
Here is my quote: I watched the OKC/LA series. I saw Durant go through stretches where his shot was off. Sometimes it was because of Artest - sometimes it was because the kid is 22 an putting too much pressure on himself.
Where in that quote does it say that Artest did not make an impact on Durant's shooting?
Looks like we are not done with your nitpicking of my posts. If that is the case, so be it.
As for your comment mentioning Pierce and Jordan in the same sentence....I have to laugh out loud.
why are you now nitpicking my post?all I said was when Pierce gets in his zone he can score on anyone including the great Jordan to make my point.I never said he was Jordans equal.

Re: the lake show
Its a slow relaxing day,my kids are both hanging with their friends and my wife is in China on buisness.I felt like elaborating more on my Jordan comment even though no one called me out on it,was hoping someone would.
In the peak of the Jordan era there were two SG's that had success on the great Jordan, didn't say they were better,Clyde Drexler and Mitch Richmond, both could battle with Jordan and had their moments when they had terrific games going right at him. They scored on him and ofcourse Jordan would come right back in great match ups.Magic Johnson was also around, but he wasn't primarily a scorer, ofcourse the great Magic could get his game off on anyone too.
Well Pierce is in at least the same class as a scorer as Clyde the Glide and Richmond.Richmond was a bull and Pierce is bigger with greater skill and shooting touch.Drexler is a superior open court player, faster and more athletic, but Pierce has his own craftiness and patented moves that he can use to get off on anyone as Pierce proved in 08 Finals, many times going right at consecutive first team all NBA defender Kobe Bryant.
I think I proved my point that Pierce could score on a primetime MJ.

Re: the lake show
Not watching the game, just looking at the box score.
Half time, Suns-Lakers
Suns up by 7, 54-47
The Suns have shot 18-20 at the free throw line (from 13 fouls)
The Lakers, 0-3 FT (from 7 fouls)
The refs will need to even that out a little in the second half.
The Suns have shot 17-45 field goals (.378)
The Lakers are at 22-46 FG (.478)
Suns at the 3-point arc: 2-11
Lakers at the 3: 3-13
The Lakers only scored 15 points in the second quarter. Were the Suns playing defense or attacking the rim more than usual?
The only thing keeping the Suns in this game is the free throws.

Suns are playing a zone. Lakers aint figured it out yet. No help from Laker bench. Amare playing harder. Suns look feisty.

gyso,
The Suns have drawn more fouls primarily due to attacking the rim more in this game. Especially Amare.

jeb,
I told a co-worker today, a Suns fan, that I would not be surprised if the Suns won tonight. Then, the Lakers would win game 4, and close it out at home in game 5. I knew tonight would be a little tough. Amare is going off! This is almost like Arena Football. Everyone scores, and no defense.

That sounds about right. Yall got to worry about boredom more than the Suns.

A little lazy tonight. Sometimes your boys (outside kobe and Gasol and Fish) aint willing to do the dirty work. I think it's boredom or over reliance on talent. The game was there for the taking. I will never understand games the lakes play when they under utilize Gasol.

Re: the lake show
This was another one of Odom's traditional no-shows. Lakers could not figure the zone and lacked the toughness in this one to go inside.

Co,
Lack of discipline. It is almost like they are playing that a zone defense was not even a possibility against them. They don't know what to do but launch threes.

This may be a good wake up call for the Lakers. I still feel real confident they will be meeting the Celtics in the finals.
Goodnight gyso, cow, and jeb.

Very little intensity from LA.
Have to give credit to Phoenix.
They play hard and shot well.
Amare finally showed up and had a great game.
