Re: the lake show
I hear you jeb. Got to give the Suns credit. They earned it. Amare set the tone for his team. Can only say move on to game 4 now. It's over, move on. Lakers better figure out the zone and how to contain Amare.

Kobe, Fisher and Gasol are the only ones that wanted to play tonight. The way Phoenix shot the ball, I'm surprised the game was a close as it was.

More likely, he is saying "me and Kobe scored more than 50 points and we still got beat handily. Our bench is pathetic, we have NO BALANCE on this team, and we are in DEEP SHIT in the next round. If we even make it that far."

Errr..
The Suns were 38-82 (46.2%) and the Lakers 42-87 (48.3%). Where they killed the Lakers was on the FTs where they were 37-42 vs 16-20. Maybe that was what you meant though.

Re: the lake show
VERY interesting part of the NY Times report on Phoenix's Game 3 win over L.A. last night:
With three days off before Game 3, and the Lakers and the Celtics both undefeated in the conference finals, all of the chatter on talk radio, television and Twitter was focused on the possibility — perhaps the inevitability — of another Lakers-Celtics finals.
The Lakers could not afford to be so presumptuous, but the anticipation was overwhelming. The precocious Andrew Bynum, who missed the 2008 finals against Boston, lost all sense of diplomacy and verb tense when the subject was raised Saturday.
“It’s going to be amazing playing against those guys again,” he told reporters in Los Angeles. “We’re going to have a lot of fuel and a lot of ammo.”
Phil Jackson shook his head at the lack of decorum, saying, “He wasn’t thinking very clearly right there.”
And this from the L.A. Times about it:
Jackson seemed mildly irritated by Bynum before the game, noting the 22-year-old had been quoted a day earlier about facing Boston in the NBA Finals. It was a bit premature for Jackson's liking.
"There's a moment we'll call a brain [cramp] in our business," Jackson said. "He wasn't thinking very clearly right there."

Re: the lake show
On a more serious note, I watched the first half and part of the 3rd quarter last night (game 3) and that was about all I could take. The lack of defense in this series is making me ill. The Lakers play some defense, the Suns none. Zero, nada, nil, bupkiss. I know the Lakers can play defense, but they're not doing much this series.
As a Celtic fan, part of me says "I'm glad the Suns won. It'll stretch that series out to 5, at the minimum, and if we sweep the Magic we'll have time off to rest and look at film and get ready to rumble".
Another part of me says "I had hoped that the Lakers would just breeze through this series with ease. Happy, smiling Lakers running happy, smiling offensive sets. Let's have some fun! Anybody for layup drills?"
And then they run into the green buzzsaw. We're the croc in beat's picture above, ruining the happy wildebeest's day.
It could turn out very differently, of course, but I'd prefer the Lakers to get into a "everything is working great because our offense is clicking" groove and then receive a startling wake-up call.

The Lakers shot 32 three pointers last night...they made 9. That's just weird. For a team with a clear inside advantage.

Re: the lake show
That was Zen Master Phil Jackson's strategy on how to beat the Phoenix zone.
Then after that disgraceful shooting exhibition, after the game he REFUSED to give the Suns their due.
A totally self absorbed, ego maniac, and yet another reason to dislike the Lakers.

jeb,
The Lakers had 17 turnovers. The Suns had 7. I'm not counting on that, nor the 3pt fg%, to happen again.
bob
P.S. and the Lakers still shot 46% from the field, because the Suns have no answer for Gasol.

A pretty good answer is what amare did last night which is make him play d. Amare was waaayyy too quick and strong for Pau last night and Pau gets frustrated easy. Make him work.

Re: the lake show
Amare is too quick and strong for almost everyone in the league when he wants to be. Amare was extremely soft in games 1 and 2 when he had a total of 9 rebounds in 2 games.
mrkleen,
Do you really think Phil planned on LA shooting 32 3's?
Self absorbed? That is the furthest from the truth.
He is extremely thoughtful and encourages his players to look beyond the material things they have. He gives them books that he feels will help them personally.
Jealousy makes you say crazy things.

Re: the lake show
Andrew Bynum does have something in common with the Celtics:
Since he was born on 10/27/87, both he and the Celtics have won 1 NBA Championship.
This year might be the tie breaker.

There still is an all-points bulletin out for Rashard Lewis who is rumored to still be lost on the Green Line.
