Re: Official: Shaquile O'Neal a Boston Celtic Thread
Hey gents,
As much as it's all speculation at this point, I might as well pile some on.
My guess is Jermaine O starts and Shaq is in the 2nd unit mix. Although defense has been our hallmark I expect we're going to need to get some points up there quickly this year in the early going.
Once Perk returns my guess he's in the starting unit ASAP/once he's physically capable allowing us to rebuild our defensive foundation with KG playing something more akin to free safety. Can't do that with either O'Neal on the floor. J O'Neal goes to the 2nd unit to help create a 2nd unit with some scoring punch and Shaq comes in situationally (is that a real word?).
OK; gotta go pick up the pizza...
Regards

Re: Official: Shaquile O'Neal a Boston Celtic Thread
i love what the Big Leprechaun could give us and agree with the positive tone of most of this thread. i'm wondering, though, and don't know the answer -
what's his conditioning usually like? does he show up in shape for the season, play his way into it, or do what Sheed did and sort of wait for it to come, as if by FedEx - a strategy that never really worked, even though Sheed's playoff contribution was nice enough at times.
Shaq is older and is SO BIG, i would think that conditioning would play an important role in what he can give us ... so i wondered if any of you had some insight.
best,
Michael
