Re: Playoff Observations
We lack a facilitator. James Harden is broken. KD is a scorer not a facilitator. The role players are role players that don’t create on their own. They play off the stars. A healthy Harden and KD and you can’t stop it. A healthy Kyrie and KD and it’s all good. But, when our ball handlers aren’t well, we aren’t an elite offense, and without the elite offense this team is mediocre.
It’s frustrating because of how we got here. Giannis is a dirty piece of trash. The world needs to know.

Pack it up- the Nets looks like it wants to go fishing already, bring some defensive minded players next season.
Trade Joe for a real 3 and D guy. Team looks tired and rattled.

Pathetic half
1st quarter especially. We played them about even in 2nd. Bucks keep responding with killer 3s when we get some momentum. Need the defense to step up. That’s the only way we’ll get back into it. Need some stops try to cut lead down to single digits by 4th and hope KD get us the W

Props to Harden for gutting it out
We need a real coach been saying it all year you got a guy on the other team shooting under 50% from the line you would think he would tell his players to foul the guy instead of letting him get the layup

This offseason needs to be about acquiring size
Trade Joe, he has a name in this league and we can get some value. Hire some defensive minded coaches.

guess this is what happens when you try to buy a championship.

Weak effort
The Nets look defeated. They’re letting the Bucks push them around. The Bucks are more aggressive and are moving the ball well.
The Nets are trying to go one on one and keep looking to the officials to bail them out.
The Nets are playing soft, and deserve to lose if they don’t stop feeling sorry for themselves and start playing tough.

Rudy T.
KD certainly woke up. Bucks must of thought they had it. That kind of attitude will get your coach fired and your team blown up.

I'm beginning to think Coach Bud might not be the sharpest marble in the box. He can still save his job and the team if he wins two in a row here.
But if you are looking for an underdog ascent to the top of Mount Everest, this will be your story.

worcester,
If you are still buying Giannis' "We/I don't get too high or too low" balogna, it looks like they will have backed themselves into a G7 Winner Take All. To this point, this is still not a series. No one has won on the visitor's home court yet.

Report: Suns' Chris Paul enters COVID-19 health and safety protocols
Liz Roscher

Chris Paul of the Phoenix Suns has entered into the NBA's COVID-19 health and safety protocols, according to The Athletic's Shams Charania. He will be out of action for an unknown period of time.
Shams Charania
@ShamsCharania
Phoenix Suns All-NBA guard Chris Paul has entered COVID-19 health and safety protocols and is sidelined for an indefinite period of time, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium.
It's possible that Paul, 36, may not be available to play at the start of the upcoming Western Conference finals, but we don't know when that series will begin. The NBA has not yet released the schedule for the upcoming conference finals, and Suns are still waiting to find out which team they'll be facing. The winner of the series between the Utah Jazz and Los Angeles Clippers will take on the Suns, and that series is currently tied 2-2.
According to Charania, Paul's "isolation period could be shorter for a vaccinated individual." Paul has not publicly revealed whether he's been vaccinated. In March he called vaccination a "personal-type decision."

Chris Paul on getting vaccinated: "I think all of these situations are personal-type decisions." Says they'll keep talking about it in the NBPA but doesn't see any kind of mandate coming

The Suns completed their sweep of the Denver Nuggets on Sunday and may not have to play again until next week. The Jazz-Clippers series won't end for at least two more games (scheduled for Wednesday and Friday), and a possible Game 7 is scheduled for Sunday. That means there will be at least 4-5 more days of downtime for the Suns, which could help Paul miss as few games as possible.
Paul as been a vital piece for the Suns throughout the season, and that hasn't changed in the playoffs. He's averaged 15.7 points, 8.7 assists and 4.1 rebounds over 10 playoff games. He's second on the team in points per game but has a commanding lead in assists — the only person close to his average of 8.7 per game is Devin Booker, who's averaging 4.8
Bob
MY NOTE: If Chris Paul is entering the COVID protocols for a longer time because he isn't vaccinated, but would be out of it if he was, then he owes his teammates and the fans an apology for being a selfish prick. A personal decision is a decision that affects you. If you are responsible for others then it's not just about you.

Still can’t get over that after Bud had the Bucks switching & Giannis guarding stars all year, they reverted right back to drop coverage & Giannis camped in the corner with their season on the line. They have some really good coaching candidates on that staff who deserve a shot.

Report: Kawhi Leonard expected to miss Game 5, maybe longer if ACL is torn
Kurt Helin
Wed, June 16, 2021, 6:50 AM
After Kawhi Leonard sat out the final 4:35 of the Clippers’ Game 4 win on Monday, he was asked about his apparent knee injury and said, “It’s good. Next question.”
It turns out it’s not good, and the next question is how much longer the Clippers will survive in this series without him.
Leonard is out for Game 5 and likely the rest of the series with a knee injury suffered in Game 4, reports Brian Windhorst and Ramona Shelburne of ESPN.

Leonard told teammates last night to prepare for him to be out.
He landed awkwardly on a drive in the fourth quarter and grimaced in pain Monday night. He briefly stayed in game but didn’t finish as the Clippers secured the win to even series 2-2.

The Clippers believe this is a torn ACL, reports Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Shams Charania
@ShamsCharania
Clippers fear All-NBA star Kawhi Leonard has suffered an ACL injury, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. He is out indefinitely.
9:48 AM · Jun 16, 2021
If so, Leonard would not only be out for these playoffs but likely for most or all of next season as well. He also was expected to opt out of his $36 million contract for next season and sign a longer-term deal with the Clippers, how that plays out if this is an ACL injury remains to be seen.
The injury is to Leonard’s left knee. The knee/tendon issues that sidelined Leonard back with the Spurs were with his right knee, but likely due to compensation when he has sat out for the Clippers with load management it is usually listed as for the left knee.
Leonard is averaging 30.4 points per game these playoffs, shooting 39.3% from 3. The Clippers have outscored opponents by 3.2 points per 100 possessions when he is on the court this postseason.
This leaves the Clippers with Paul George as their primary shot creator and scorer for this series, and while he is capable — he is an All-NBA player — it is likely not enough against a deep and talented Jazz team that had the best record in the NBA this season.
That Jazz team is dealing with its own injury in the form of Donovan Mitchell‘s ankle, which has slowed the All-Star scorer.
Game 5 is Wednesday night in Utah, Game 6 back in Los Angeles on Friday.

I have to agree with you about coach bud.
I just do not get it. Giannis made the all defensive 1st team but he was not the primary defender on Durant. If the coach does not say cover Durant you would think that a guy who is supposed to be an elite defensive player would demand that assignment.
And you see how ill equipped the Bucks are defending in space and out to the perimeter with the Android glued to the floor. No Bobby Portis for example and the Nets have yet to play a true center.

Suicide watch in Philly- ONE BIG CHOKE JOB AFTER ANOTHER- 76ers snippets
Every single season people on this board WARN YOU ALL that this team is a fluke for numerous reasons, and season after season you MOCK those people… and then when the playoffs come around they are proven right! Take the time to listen to people instead of shunning them because of your fan bias. The regular season is a different animal than the playoffs. You NEED solid guards/forwards that can do damage in the half court. You can rave about Ben’s defense until the cows come home, but this team will NEVER win a championship with a starting PG that refuses to shoot. Stop being so damn stubborn and face reality. It’s not all Bens fault, but with his contract, he brings no real value when it comes to the playoffs… and I’m not even a pointzzz guy. If you know you know.
Now maybe FINALLY you will take your head of your asses and look at this team rationally instead of with your emotions!!!! You were WARNED… and instead of listening, you ridicule whoever criticizes Ben and the team.

What a spectacle – A team wins by not playing basketball.
Ben’s fault for being shoot at FTs. The league’s fault for allowing such a shoot product.

I mean, the POs are about shooting and FTs, how did we think its possible to win against quality opposition with a perimeter player who cant shoot? Its just too hard to overcome.

He watched the Bench give it away, and with that momentum kept forcing the ball to embiid instead of going with Seth or Harris.
Not sure why they couldn’t score anything at the end, seemed like the players were just in shock.

This Sixers team just feels old...
I don’t know if its the injuries or what…
They look slow, tired, injured, and lack the drive in the clutch.
Never seen so many starters just disappear in important games down the stretch…it’s mind numbing.

Does anyone
know the Heimlich Maneuver? Please report to courtside.

Posted by Carnthesixers on Jun 16, 2021 | 10:34 PM
I mean, the POs are about shooting and FTs, how did we think its possible to win against quality opposition with a perimeter player who cant shoot? Its just too hard to overcome.

last quarter 40-19 unbelievable.

This one is on Doc.
He watched the Bench give it away, and with that momentum kept forcing the ball to embiid instead of going with Seth or Harris.
Not sure why they couldn’t score anything at the end, seemed like the players were just in shock.
I sure was and still am..

Here comes the Lowery signing
Ben just got Kyle Lowery a BIG sixers contract…

Not Just the FTs
But Ben is a complete non entity in the 4th quarter of close games offensively. I tried. I am done.

Only 2 Philly players scored in the 2nd half. Joel and Seth.

Re: Playoff Observations
Sixers have choked away the last 2 games. Shameful
They (Hawks) now find themselves one more win away from competing in the ECF.
George carried the Clippers to a huge win on the road and are heading home for a closeout opportunity.
The Bucks got one last shot to save their season tonight at home.

Re: Playoff Observations
It is unfortunate that Chis Paul is in the Covid 19 protocol. The Suns will update his status on Saturday.
If he was previously vaccinated then his time away will be shorter. I am thinking that he was not vaccinated. When asked before if he got vaccinated he said something to the effect that it was a personal choice. That sounds like a no to me. If a person was vaccinated a likely response would be yes and I think everyone who can get vaccinated should do so.
This situation is ironic. Chris Paul has been a tremendous decision maker on the court for his team but is he had decided not to get vaccinated it would be a bad off the court decision.
Speaking of vaccinations, I am happy to know that Massachusetts including all New England States, leads the entire nation as a region with the most fully vaccinated people and those that have received at least one dose. I'm heading to Boston soon.

dboss,
I agree. CP's response to that question sounded like a dance he was trying to have with the media. Bill Russell, Julius Erving and others not only got vaccinated, they made a point of letting everybody know they did by filming it as a PSA.

ktron's own Comments From The Other Side. EXCELLENT!!
That was unbelievable. At the risk of being a broken record I will say this again "after watching some of the other teams in the playoffs, don't you feel better about how our Celtics competed despite being so very depleted?".
Phoenix has looked very good, but the loss of CP3 for a while makes you wonder if they can get further. It depends upon when he can come back (and if the fool didn't get vaccinated and actually comes down with COVID, like Tatum did, then he may be physically impaired when he does come back anyway).
Milwaukee and Philly look like they don't have a single clutch gene between the two of them. The look on Doc's face at the end of the game! I thought he was going to vomit right there on the court, he looked so sick.
The Clips beating Utah in Utah last night without Kawhi throws that series into doubt.
Only Brooklyn looks like can rise above injuries. Of course, we haven't seen KD go down yet, he's carried them despite alternating losses of Kyrie and Harden.

Re: Playoff Observations
Much as I hate to pat him on the back, Scal predicted this while the Celtics were still playing. He said he had no faith in Philly, Well, he was right. Embid looked cooked in the second half, Simmons was an embarrassment they had to take off the floor because they knew Atlanta had no fear of him, especially at the free throw line and the three point line. They are on their way to an embarrassing ouster again. Which head will roll first?
Utah had that game in the palm of their hands last night, but you live by the three, you die by the three. Boggie looked unreal in the first half, as did the rest of the team. Then they fought for every point they got in the second half. Give Lue credit, he changed his defense, put the ball in George's hands for the most part (and Morris and Jackson) and they went to work. Granted, You could tell Mitchell was hurting, and they missed Conley tremendously, but still had enough talent on the floor that they should have. This series is just about over, but how far they go after this without Kwahi I don't know.
Philly has no HEART, period, they deserve to lose.

Re: Playoff Observations
This is what I love about playoff basketball, the players get exposed in the brightest biggest moments for every purist to see. Ben Simmons will not be getting another max contact, maybe some day he’ll explain why he could never even show any effort to developing any semblance of a jumper. Embid continues his inability to close out games.
