The Sacramento Kings have released 2016 #28 pick Skal LaBissiere.

6'10", 235#. Still only 27 years old.

Last played in the NBA in 2019-2020.  He was signed and immediately released.  The plan is to get him into their G-League Stockton, CA team. My opinion watching him play was that he was soft.

Cavaliers plan to keep last roster slot open after signing Tristan Thompson

An unrestricted free agent, Tristan Thompson will sign to take the penultimate roster spot, bringing toughness, leadership and experience to a young roster that got bullied against the Knicks in the first round of the playoffs. Sources say the team is still planning to keep the final slot open, wanting flexibility and optionality throughout training camp and the early portion of the season. However, that could change depending on what happens with point guard Ricky Rubio, who paused his career to focus on mental health and well-being.

Cameron Payne to have significant market among contending teams

The San Antonio Spurs are waiving veteran guard Cameron Payne, clearing the way for him to join a contending team that can offer him a larger role, sources told ESPN on Monday. Should Payne clears waivers this week, he’ll have a significant market of contending teams looking to add him — especially after his productive postseason performance for the Phoenix Suns in the 2023 Western Conference playoffs. – via Adrian Wojnarowski @ ESPN

MY NOTE:  29 years old.  6'1".  Averaged 20.2mpg last season.  36.8% from 3 last year (36.3% career), 4.5apg, 1.7TOpg, 2.64:1 assist-to-turnover ratio.  Very nice.  Mediocre defender, about the same DefRtg as Pritchard.  Payne is a better distributor, Pritchard is the better shooter.

He played for Phoenix last year.  That's "west coast" to a NJ girl.  Maybe that's who JR's wife's sister's daughter was talking about?  3 more weeks and we'll have real stuff to talk about.

Yesterday the Sacramento Kings waived Nerlens Noel (because they signed JaVale McGee) and Neemias Queta (7', a total of 149 NBA minutes in 2 seasons).

Noel only played a total of 195 minutes last year between Detroit and Brooklyn. He's a defensive jumping jack with zero offense. Zero Point Zero. When he shoots from 3-10' his fg% drops to 36.8%. If he's not dunking he's useless.

Nevertheless, with the return of Blake Griffin becoming a more and more distant possibility do we need someone with similar skills to RWill who can fill in for RWill?
