dcrol on BDC pete now. Didn't post often, but read all of yours.

I am new to any Celtic board. I have followed the Globe posts for several months. I consider myself a historian with respect to Bird and his career and, as any true Celtic fan will concede, as you worship Bird you ultimately embrace Red and his Celtic Pride creation.

Having lived in LA all my life, I have endured more than most fans on this Board this past Summer as dozens of Laker fans pounded me with texts, e-mails, etc. Unfortunately, the tide did not change when Artest was signed in early July. However, I do sense something "unique" about this team, defensively and otherwise. I believe we are going to witness greatness emerge.

I look forward to this season with all of you.

p.s. While I appreciate the talent and Bird-like work ethic, I despise Kobe and what his style of ball brings to a team. Lets hope we can slam his door shut this year -- perhaps permanently the next couple of years.

Welcome to the board. My wife and I claim to have welcomed Larry to Boston. In June of 1979, we were waiting in my doctor's office to take blood tests for our upcoming marriage. I happened to use the same doctor as the Celtics, Tom Silva.

Through the door came the agent Bob Woolf and this tall blond guy. I knew Bob since our days together on the Sam Jones Day Committee. I recognized the blond guy from a certain epic college basketball game against Magic Johnson. So OF COURSE I went over to say hello to Bob, and he introduced us to Larry Joe Bird, who was about to take his physical before signing with the Celtics.

I think Larry said two words, and both of them may have been "Uh." A far cry from the verbal spokesman he later became. But it was fun to meet him and welcome him to Boston...and we also passed our blood tests.

I look forward to your comments on the board.

it's my first post on this board! LilRip was my nickname on the "old board" and i'm using it here as well. I would've dropped the "Lil" in the name but having only Rip as a name would've made me seem like a Detroit fan, lol.

excited about the upcoming season and excited to start post on this new and hopefully much more sensible forum! ^_^

I have been reading both the BDC and this site and the lack of civility is even worse when contrasted with a world without Trolls.

I've been reading the BDC site for a while now and would every so often chime in. The trolls have taken a toll on me and wanted a fresh board to browse. Thanks for taking the time to set it up for us SAm!

Sam has taken on the chore of administering this site so that we will not have
Laker & Cav trolls pumping up their teams while they are tearing apart the Celts. I thank him for that, and it seems that alot of the old time Celtic fans are joining us.

I posted as Taz1956 only a few times during the 2007 season till now. Mostly I was a brouser so it will be nice to see and talk real basketball again! There was a brief time that I used this Hondo17 username with a different e-mail address and I did prefer it so that is why I am using it for this forum.

This is my first time posting on this board but i have used this same user name on the other board since 05-06. Thanks Sam for creating this board.

I used to be a somewhat regular poster with this name on BDC back in 2005-2007 and have been lurking off and on for a while since. Mostly off because of the troll factor. After seeing what's going on here I decided to come out again and hopefully be part of this great site. Thanks for setting it up Sam. You are one of a kind!
