beat,
Good one, you got it.
The New York Knicks were the first to lose the NBA finals 3 or more times in a row. They did it three times in a row in 1951 (losing to the Rochester Royals, who are now the Sacramento Kings), 1952 (losing to the Minneapolis Lakers), and again in 1953 (again losing to the Minneapolis Lakers).

March 2, 1951 in the friendly confines of the Boston Garden ( as it was Walter Browns idea) East Won coached by Joe Lapchick and "easy" Ed Macauley was the first MVP.
(actually I only knew it was played in Boston) rest of it I had to look up.

Re: Pregame Chatter and Notes of Interest in the GO! thread, Plus Trivia!!!
Sounds like Wade has had it with Beasley, and Beasley was quoted as saying that there was alot of loud talking in the locker room after they lost game 2.
Beasley looks lost out there, and now that KG is back, he will be even more lost. I really think he has gotten into the kid's head. He is double thinking everything he does out there. You would have thought he would have come out in game 2 with guns blazing, he was invisible for the most part. I used to think this kid was going to be something special, now.....I wonder.

Re: Pregame Chatter and Notes of Interest in the GO! thread, Plus Trivia!!!
The "Rondo pressing point" article from the Herald goes into the same stuff the Miami Herald article posted by Steve talked about. It's about how Rondo's fullcourt pressure completely discombobulated the Miami point guards ability to bring the ball up and get into an offensive set with any time left.

Re: Pregame Chatter and Notes of Interest in the GO! thread, Plus Trivia!!!
Good point Bob. I don't believe anyone has mentioned that full-court pressure. It wasn't a press designed to steal the ball but just to use up valuable seconds and limit the number of options the Heat had when they finally got set up in the halfcourt. Another great move by Doc. Tom Heinsohn must have been beside himself, because he's constantly wondering why teams don't use the press more often. And having so much rest between games makes it all the more possible. I was really impressed by the fact that Celtics players seemed like they couldn't wait to get back on the floor after timeouts. Too often, all teams seem like they heave a sigh of resignation and heave their bodies up to get back into the fray. These guys were out of the huddle, sitting or standing in front of the scorer's table in anticipation.

Sam,
See you at Lefty's.
I told some friends last night about us hooking up at Lefty's and they practically climbed over each other in their enthusiasm about "the awesome open-faced turkey sandwich", "no, no, the pastrami is unbelievable" and "the pastrami's phenomenal, true, but did you try the corned beef? It's out of this world!". Either way, there were no losers. Of course, I always take the opinions on pastrami and corned beef with a grain of salt (no pun intended) when they come from people who aren't from NY or Boston and have never been there. I mean, how much weight would you put on the opinion of deep-dish pizza from someone who's never been to Chicago?
It'll be interesting and fun, though, that's for sure.
