Smaller, yes. More skilled? Arvydas Sabonis was the most skilled big man I've ever seen. Considering that includes Cowens, KG and Bill Walton that says a whole lot. We didn't get to see him until he was old and damaged. Find some old tapes of him when he was with the Soviet team if you really need to get your mind blown.

With all do respect I disagree with your assessment. But I want to give you reason to look a bit closer.

Sabonis came over from Europe at age 31. He was not better than Cowens, KG or Walton. He only played in the NBA for 7 season

His best NBA season at age 33 was 1997-1998. He averaged 16 PPG, 10 rebounds and 3 assists.

Walton was a shadow of his former self at age 33 so it is impossible to compare the two. As a matter of fact no one can say how good Sabonis was as compared to NBA centers that played over an extended period of time.

With respect to Dave Cowens his career average was 17.6 PPG, 13.6 rebounds and 3.8 assists.

There was nothing remotely unique about Sabonis other than the fact that he was the first high profile Euro center that had NBA level talent.

I also looked at Jokic. He has been playing for 4 years but is only 24 years old. I think he is definitely better than Sabonis and I agree with Cowens that he is more skilled.

This year he averaged 20 PPG, 10.8 Rebounds and 7.3 assists. Real tough to compare Sabonis to these other guys because of the age factor when he started his NBA career. But there is zero evidence based on the body of work in the NBA that supports Sabonis being the most skilled big man of the group you named.

Dave Cowens would kick his ass just like he used to do to Artis Gilmore, who was just a little to slow to keep up with Cowens tenacity. Never saw him play in the best days of his Russian/Euro career, but from what I did see would gladly take KG, Walton or Cowens over Sabonis in a heartbeat.

I follow him, he’s ghetto, but getting past his entertaining shtick, he generally makes good/compelling points. He picked us to come out of the East at the beginning and all during season he didn’t give up on us. He acknowledged some of our problems during season, but always said he wants to see where this team is at around playoff time, that he loves our length and athleticism, has repeatedly called 2 J’s studs that are coming....

This is no new revelation. He actually picked the Celtics at the beginning of the season and has been pretty firm in his belief that we would win.

Unfortunately I disagree with him as I do not think we will win it all. But I hope we will and if I am be wrong, this is one time when I would really like to be wrong.

I think if we can get to Finals, we will win. That’s the problem though, I think Bucks and Raptors match up better vs us than Warriors, we can handle GS, I like that match up....

Yep, bad omen giving away last game soo bad, they sure got tired of seeing game film of DR lighting up Reddick, made sure that would never happen again. DeAngelo Russell has a lot of work to do this summer, teams know to put your best wing defender on him now....

Brooklyn's Allen is a Hassan Whiteside type of center. Will NOT leave the paint. Modern centers like Horford, Embiid, Jokic and Cousins eat those players up.

Plus they gave up a lot of wide open 3’s too, Tobias Harris is a terrible defender as is Redick at this stage of his career. Play Simmons to pass and he is very ineffective as he can’t score/shoot. Embid already looks like an old man. I don’t think the 76ers can clean all this up, Brett Brown is not that good a coach."

Well after my first post I looked good. Embid was hurting/struggling, no one could stay in front of Levert. Simmons showed me something, stepped up big time both ends. Thought Russell would be too quick and clever for Simmons, but that match up right there might have turned the series around, as Russell couldn’t get off on Simmons length and athleticism. Also Nets defense got exposed, as good as Levert is on offense, his defense is no where near as impactful as Jaylen or Jayson, they have no PF, still need a PF that can defend and board at some level if you want to win in playoffs....
