Re: Our Lakers Pick Lookin' Good
After last night's terrific results all around, only one team (Atlanta) has fewer wins than LA now. And they're only two behind. Improved play by Chicago (9-2 in their last 11), Dallas (9-11 after 2-14 start) and Sacramento (5-5 after a 7-17 start) has been a huge positive for our Laker pick. Shocked that the Kings beat the Cavs easily last night with Willie Cauley-Stein actually outscoring Lebron! 40 year old Vince Carter (the star of the game with 24) did too. With Brook Lopez and Lonzo Ball out, Laker losses should continue, as Memphis did to them last night in LA. Lonzo should be back sooner than Lopez tho. But it was a great night for us. OKC beat Toronto easily also, to give us back a 2 1/2 game lead in the division.

Re: Our Lakers Pick Lookin' Good
With the LAL pick still in play the impact of Dannny trading down and drafting a player with star written all over him grows bigger by the day. The potential to add yet another high lottery pick in 2018 will make the trade one of the greatest in decades.
I have watched a lot of Laker games this year and I find them to be a fiesty team of young players that are just too inexperienced to win a lot of games.
And they are just as susceptible to lost man hours as any other team. They do not have veteran leadership to lean on during tough times

Exactly!
That's why I strongly believe the Lakers will be one of the top 5 worst teams in the league this season.
And in case you didn't notice, when Brandon Ingram puts up good numbers, the Lakers usually end up losing.

Thanks for the update. Tonight LAL vs LAC. Clippers have been player a little better as of late (6-4)
Then LAL play Houston at Houston on Sunday. It would be nice if the Lakers 4 game skid continues. Just think we get a chance to root for the clips and Houston as well as every opponent of LA except for ourselves.
The odds associated with the pick continue to improve.

Now crash away, crash away, crash away Lakers too.

Re: Our Lakers Pick Lookin' Good
Philadelphia losing games on purpose was destroying the league's credibility. Year after year Hinkie made a mockery of the sport.
So basically now that the process is over, the Lakers are more likely to end up in the bottom five. There is a lot of competition for worst scrub team, thus it's still not something to bet the farm on.
But at a minimum, Danny has set it up where there is a good chance he will be able to keep alive the window. The Lakers pick might roll over to Sacramento and there is also the Memphis situation in a couple years. Top teams are not supposed to have potential top draft picks in the pipeline, but there they are.
If the extra picks don't turn out as good as they could, Stevens' teaching ability makes it possible to see the value no matter what. He is throwing Nader and Yabusele into the fire and they don't look too bad. He stuck it out with Semi and that guy was starting to become consistent. Larkin was pulled off the scrap heap and has pushed up his own ceiling. Danny found Baynes for cheap money. Danny and Brad are a two-headed monster.
Milwaukee and Boston tanked one year and then stopped. The 76'ers were dragging the league into the toilet with continual ten or so win seasons. The Celtics looked like a ten win team Brad's first year, yet won 25. Marcus Smart was the result.
Now with all teams trying to win as exhibited by Atlanta, Chicago and Dallas, the Lakers pick might pan out. I guess best case scenario is they end up with the second worst record and do not win the top pick which would go to Philly. That would ensure yet another Danny miracle.
Hinkie was sort of the Marcus Smart of GM's, hot and cold, hits and misses, fully involved for better or worse. I'm glad that type of blatant tanking is apparently over. It was basically some form of very cynical cheating. He did fleece some teams with clever trades. It was a weird era in basketball.
Philly fans will need to pray that Embiid is relatively healthy for a long career or they are basically the rich man Clippers teams that got top pick after top pick but never went anywhere. Danny completely fleeced Philly getting the better player and a draft pick for Fultz who is apparently an over-hyped, not so great prospect.
Even after the league has become aware Danny wins trade after trade, he pulls off more heists if the Kyrie trade is included. I would have been very afraid to trade Kyrie to Boston if I was Cleveland. I thought the rule was don't trade with your closest competitor. Danny is always a step ahead. How come Danny knew Crowder wasn't that great? Who would think having Crowder at power forward or LeBron with Kevin Love at center was a good idea? How could Philly not know that Tatum was as good a pick as Fultz or that Fultz is not better than Tatum plus another potential top pick?
I'm not sure if Mormons are allowed to gamble, but if they could, I think Danny might have become a top poker player under different circumstances.

The Lakers have lost 7 of 8, Randle’s minutes are plummeting, players keep hearing they’ll be replaced by LeBron. Yesterday the team met to air all grievances.

If the standings hold as they are right now, the Celtics would have about a 70-percent chance of receiving the Lakers pick

Looks like Dallas could win their 12th game tonight. They're up 17 in New Orleans at the half. And Chicago could win their 13th. They're leading the Pacers in Chicago by 11 midway through the third quarter.

Phoenix beat Sacto in Sacto last night. We want both to win, obviously they couldn't both win when they play each other, but it would have been a little better if Sacto won. Other that that, all the teams we want to win that played last night (Mavs, Charlotte, Brooklyn, Chicago) all won while the teams we wanted to lose (Hawks, Lakers) obliged.

Would be very surprised if Rockets drop a game to LA at home. Also LA has no reliable center either.cowens/oldschool wrote:Dboss that game is a toss up, would love to see Lakers lose, but if Nene doesn’t play and I believe Capella is still injured then Ryan Anderson starts, and that team is Charmin soft.
Cow half the season is almost completed and everything is setting up for the Celtics to get yet another high lottery pick. That pick could address long term front line needs

He is just what we need, we have enough runners and offense and perimeter defenders. He averages a sick 4.5 blocks a game, Ayton only is at around 1.5. Could Celtic history repeat itself at some level?

If you missed it last night, with Dallas' win the Lakers now own the 3rd worst record in the NBA. The 3rd worst record would give them the best chance (80.4%) of landing a pick between 2 and 5 in the draft. A Laker pick between 2 and 5 in the draft...goes to the Celtics.

MY NOTE: so, regardless of who wins or loses, for us Lakers being 3rd is the sweet spot.
