Re: 2019 NBA Draft
True, Perk and Al were good picks. Big Baby too. Still, Danny has whiffed on Many bigs.
Re: 2019 NBA Draft
Al was allstar level pick and Perk was a solid role player.
My fingers are itching to type in all the misses but thanks to worcester, I will not do that.

Dboss, A broke clock is right twice a day. Let's hope Danny gets lucky on the next big he picks, that he gets AD to sign a five year deal, and that he keeps JB and MS.

Al a B, Perk a B-, Zizic may turn into a C, Kelly a C-, the others - meh. Rob Lob may go from an A to a D. Too early to tell.
Re: 2019 NBA Draft
Sounds like Ty Jerome had a good workout yesterday with Cs. Hit 84 of 100 3s.

The Celtics are one of the teams lobbying for flip flopping the draft and the beginning of free agency.
I think it is a good idea.

Draft after the team's foundation has been set. Nah, that makes too much sense.

Re: 2019 NBA Draft
The notion that Ainge is lousy at selecting bigs in the draft is certainly not borne out by the numbers. Since 2003, 92 centers have been drafted with the 15th through the 45th pick - and 22 of them have career averages of at least 21 minutes per game - a 23.9% rate. During this same period Danny slected 7 players.
Those that made the cut at 21 minutes per game-
Jefferson 15th pick
Perkins 27th pick acquired by trade on draft night
Olynyk 13th pick acquired by trading Celtic 16th pick Nogueira
Glenn Davis 35th pick acquired by trade on draft night with Seattle
Drafted but have not hit 21 minutes career per game
Melo - out of league
Deyonta Davis 31st pick Traded on draft night for LAC 2019 draft pick (Results still pending)
Zizic drafted 23th 6-23-17,traded 8-30-30 to Cavs in the Irving trade. (results still pending)

note,,,6-12 19
Removed Erdan from the original list as he was the 60th pick overall - total players selected by Danny was 7 not 8.

Re: 2019 NBA Draft
Swish, I had already pointed out that Danny drafted Al, Perk. Zizic, and Big baby ...who were ok. Kelly O, not so much. Danny's errors regarding drafting bigs are both of omission and commission. There were several important bigs that Danny overlooked and several stinkers he picked instead.

man so many moving parts with this coming draft. will Danny be drafting assuming Irving is gone and Rozier and Morris both resign?
in that case I may draft as follows:
14- Tyler Hero- Depth in the back court
20- Mfiondu Kabengele- Replacement for either Yabusele (whos contract I would eat) or Theis
22. Cam Johnson- has size to play SF along with his shooting touch.
If Irving is back (looks unlikely) and Rozier and Morris leave for Tax reasons:
maybe I'd go
14- Hero
20- Kabengele
22. PJ Washington
if we trade for Davis, who knows which picks we;d have left, but we'd likely be looking to replace Tatum and Smarts roster spots, in that case I may look at:
20- MatisseThybulle
22- Cam Johnson
lots of moving parts to try to even nail down what Danny may be looking at to me.

It's amazing how easy it is to get things right when you breakout the hindsight crystal ball. Now you take the 2014 draft - that's the year that Jokic went with the 45th pick. Now, how could Danny pass on him? Shame on Danny!!! - But what's that you say -- 39 other teams also passed on him - that's twice for some teams. Oh I get it - The nba is far from being an exact science.

Draft is a crapshoot, from everything I’ve read I’d pass on Tyler Hero....

yesterday
Woj on the Celtics trading late first-round picks, driving an ice pick into my heart: "They don’t want to have three rookies on this team next season."

some players withdrawing from the draft
Some of the top prospects heading back to school include Charles Bassey, Neemias Queta, Devon Dotson, Killian Tillie and Jordan Nwora.

why don't you like Herro?
I think he could become another JJ Redick in today's NBA.

Except faster/more athletic, better handling, and perhaps able to create his own shot

He is 6' 6" with a wing span of only 6.325"
We do not need to draft anyone with alligator arms. We have been down that road before and it was a dead end. There is so much better overall talent to choose from. Danny screws up draft after draft missing on talented players especially when he is armed with multiple first rounders.
