Another one gone.

He's not even the best Wagner.

Moritz is now making $11M while Franz is still on his soon to be ending rookie contract and is currently making only $7M.

Mo has bragging rights for such a short time.  Sad

Also:

It's funny, because I was just poking around in spotrac.com and saw a notice of a two-year contract, but no salary amount was listed.

Apparently, I can copy and paste a tweet slightly faster than you can create and post big green text. Cool

Jonathan Isaac resigns with Orlando for 5 year $84M

Wow.  That is A LOT of money for a player that only played 914 minutes last year and only averaged 6.8 points in 15.8mpg.

Xavier Tillman's deal is fully guaranteed for two years at the minimum, sources tell @TheAthletic.

Bob
MY NOTE:  Tillman will be even better next year.  He now has some experience in Joe's system.  In his exit interview Joe will tell him what he wants him to work on over the summer and he'll receive the benefits of a training camp when it opens, neither of which he had this year.  Camps are SO important for young players.  We think of Tillman as an older, mid-to-late career veteran but he's actually only 25 years old and just finished his 4th NBA season.  Tillman is carving out a nice little career for a #35 draft pick in the 2020 draft.  Payton was the #26 pick in that draft.  For some reason I think of 26 year old Payton Pritchard as the young'un and 25 year old Xavier Tillman as the older guy.

Brad locking up an experienced big for two years at the vet minimum.   The vet minimum for a player with 4 years experience is $2.24M.  The #30 pick makes $2.5M/year.  If he had taken Filipkowski he would be paying even more for a rookie that has never laced up an NBA sneaker,  would probably never get off the bench, and we have Baylor instead to replace Svi.  He's pretty good at this GM-ing stuff.

Bobby Manning @RealBobManning
Kornet signed for the one-year league minimum, which will carry a $2.1M cap hit. Since the #Celtics signed him to a 1yr minimum and he'd lose his Bird rights if he's traded, he has a no trade clause this year.

Bob
MY NOTE:  Why would the Celtics WANT to trade a now serviceable 2nd-3rd string center when they are over the 2nd apron and he'd only contribute $2.1M to a trade?  This no-trade clause is Brad giving away something of value to Luke that also coincides perfectly with the team’s needs and limitations and that is the signature of an excellent negotiator..

It now appears that the claims of IT signing contracts with a variety of teams were viral posts by an unverified account and they're all BS.

Please disregard until further validation.

Michael Scotto: The Boston Celtics have agreed to a two-way contract with Drew Peterson, league sources told @hoopshype.

Bob
MY NOTE:  Minor surprise here for me.  I thought that Brad would sign Drew to an NBA contract and just move on from either Oshae or Svi.

Hearing reports that Brad might not fill spot #15 in order to cut down on the luxury tax bill for the beginning of the season.

Is there any discussion currently to drop to just one round of drafting?  Or is two rounds going to be it?  I'm guessing the math doesn't work for just one round.  Just curious after the whole Lakers debacle.

#56 pick Bronny James signs a guaranteed 4 year $7.9M contract with the Lakers.  He signs right after LeBron signs his 2 year $104M contract.

Who's your daddy, Bronny?  I cannot wait to see NBA guards go out of their way to destroy this unworthy scion of NBA royalty on the court.  Your daddy won't still be playing 4 years from now when your contract expires, and neither will you.

Is anybody be surprised that the daughter of Jerry Buss would go all in on naked nepotism?

Bronny pairing up with Bronny's dad (BD?) is just the next evolution of the Doc and Austin Rivers pairing.

Deserved or not, the elder of each pairing will be accused of nepotism and the younger of each pairing will be accused of not being talented enough to play in the NBA.  This situation did cause issues in the locker room in the Rivers pairing, I believe.

Here's to hoping that history repeats itself in the Bronny pairing,

Cheers!!:

What the Hield?!!!  Buddy to GSW from 76ers.  Gotta make room for Georgie I guess.  This is a wash at best for GSW.  It somewhat replaces Klay.  Good luck.  Welcome back to the Play-In at best.  As long as Draymond doesn't punch him in the face.

Evan Sidery @esidery
Buddy Hield chose to join the Warriors over the Lakers and Pistons as potential destinations, per @ShamsCharania

Bob
MY NOTE:  Why go to a team where you're barely the #3 option, if that, when you can go to a team where you are the #2 option?  GSW isn't a good team anymore but they're better than Detroit by a long shot.  According to Shams Charania, Buddy Hield chose GSW over the Lakers and Detroit because of "the opportunity to win".  Take that, LeBron and AD!!  I don't suppose it has anything to do with Buddy being able to step into the GSW starting 5 of GSW as a replacement for Klay, but isn't confident he could beat out D'Angelo Russell or even Austin Reaves, would it?

Chicago has traded DeMar DeRozen to Sacramento.   Details not currently available.

Lakers were bidding for him.  It will be interesting to see what Sacramento gave up and why the Lakers couldn't/wouldn't match it.

At this point I'm just grateful he didn't go to Philly or NY.   Rolling Eyes

Don't worry, BobH.  The 76ers are still the 76ers.  Since the Good Dr. left back in the 80's, they have never disappointed us nor the NBA.  Especially us.  They will somehow find a way to self-implode.  The writing is already on the wall for two of THE MOST injury-prone players next to Leonard in NBA History.  Throw in that these two are major choke artists when the heat gets turned up and it's pretty much a wrap.  All we have to do is sit back and watch the show.

Is there a remote possibility that PHI can finally get its head out of their asses after 40+ years and make a run passed the 1st two rounds sans Allen Iverson Finals which were a quite a joke as I recall? (Similar to the last two Finals we've just experienced as fans)  Of course.  There's always a probability assigned to every possibility.  Right now, I'd put that at about 5%.  I also reserved the right to adjust that percentage closer to ZERO as time progresses this season.  It won't be getting any higher.

But playing the season out is what makes a horse race.  Let's see if they can play together. Other things equal, either BOS, NYK or PHI is going to have to play the other two in the playoffs to get the the Finals.  The #1 seed probably will get a pass (as they have earned) and may not have to play either if the playoffs keep falling apart like the have been for the last two years.

BREAKING: DeMar DeRozan has agreed on a three-year, $76 million deal with the Sacramento Kings.

The Kings will send Harrison Barnes and a 2031 second-round pick to the Spurs, and Chris Duarte, two second-round picks, and cash to the Bulls to complete a sign-and-trade.

Bob
MY NOTE:  Wow.  San Antonio gets Harrison Barnes for nothing; basically just for facilitating this deal by being below the salary cap.  They're still a few players away from being a good team but adding Barnes, and another year of Wemby, should help a lot.  They have 6 players with 2 years or less of NBA experience.  That's too many young'uns to be really good.

I just heard that it was Luke Kornet's idea to get his resigning done so quickly and early so that his free agency signing would be the first announced when free agency began.  It's being reported that he thought it would be hilarious if the first signing announced would be one about Luke Kornet.

Now I understand why his teammates love him so much.   He has a "Scal calling himself The White Mamba" type of sense of humor.
