Chris Forsberg

@ChrisForsberg_
“His shooting gets most of the attention – but his feel for the game, defensive versatility, and his consistency as a teammate have allowed him to impact our team in the biggest of moments.”

Celtics officially announce Sam Hauser extension.

Gordon Hayward announced his retirement today. Made his money, got out while getting was good, his family is young, he is still young, and I am sure this may have been decision because he did not want to sit at the end of someone's bench. I will always wonder, what could have been

I agree Ros what could have been. A devastating injury 5 minutes into his Celtic career and he never seemed to get back to full health. He made his money, seems like he has a great family, but still a super tough break.

French standout Guerschon Yabusele signs one-year deal with Philadelphia 76ers to return to the NBA

Yabusele, who previously spent two seasons with the Boston Celtics, averaged 14 points per game during France's Olympic silver medal run

Team France standout Guerschon Yabusele is joining the Philadelphia 76ers, per multiple reports. The 28-year-old French forward has agreed to a one-year deal with the 76ers with a $2.1 million minimum, per ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Yabusele averaged 14 points per game throughout Team France's stellar Olympic silver medal-winning run. He scored 20 points in the Olympic gold medal final against the United States, second only to teammate Victor Wembanyama. Team USA took the win over France, 98-87.

Two of Yabusele's 20 points came with a massive dunk over LeBron James, making him one of few player to posterize the NBA great.

After starting his career on teams in France and China, Yabusele was selected 16th overall by the Boston Celtics in 2016. Yabusele spent two seasons with the Celtics franchise before going back overseas in 2019.

The 6'8" forward has played for Real Madrid since 2021; per The Athletic's Sham Charania, Yabusele had to resolve his $2.5 million contract with the Spanish team before he could return to the NBA.

Yabu gets another shot.

Hope he does well except when the Sixers play the Celtics.

Well, he asked for a chance here, obviously it was not in the cards. He had a great Olympics for France, the crowd was in love with him. I hope something good comes of this for him, I find it amusing that it is Philly that signed him

Rosalie

Yes he did play very well.  The Sixers are the team in the East that has their sights set on Boston.

NYK are also in the mix but since they lost their center I think the Sixers may be the 2nd. best team in the East.

The Celtics have an open roster spot but it probably will not go to the Yabu's of the eorld.

Rosalie

We had a great time in Boston.  I was surprised how hot it was.  We were there July 11-17th.

Yes I got my clam fix.  We went to Tony's Clam Shop in Quincy (Wollaston Beach)  The prices were outrageous.  Check it out.  I ordered a combo plate with Clams (with the bellies), Scallops and some Onion Rings.  My wife ordered a Lobster roll.  Throw in 2 Lime Ricki and cough up $90.

The food was really good regardless of the cost.

Maine is a splendid place for a vacation (or, as us retired folks call it, a holiday)

The time flew by and I stayed very busy.  I did not get a chance to connect with Bob33.

My friend gave me a 2024 Official Celtics Championship Cap.  That is the only thing that I brought back other than a lighter wallet!

Have a great Labor Day in Maine

32 year old TJ McConnell just signed a 4-year $45M extension to remain in Indy.  So, about $11M/year for a guard on his back 9.  Compare this to the 4 year $30M extension 26 year old Payton Pritchard signed.

This should be a head snapper for anybody who is still not on the "Brad Stevens is really, really good at this GM stuff" bandwagon yet.

I'm a fan of TJ's, I have been for a long time.  He just plays really good, smart B-Ball, and I'm glad he's getting his money but, at age 32, he is who he is.  Payton is on his way UP, he's only going to get better.  They're probably worth the difference in the contract $ now, but in a couple of years I think Payton's contract is going to be considered one of the biggest steals in the league for the Celtics.

Bob,

Payton is already on that list, coming in at #4:

10 best NBA contract values for the 2024-25 season

https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nba/10-best-nba-contract-values-for-the-2024-25-season/ar-AA1pFfXm

4. Payton Pritchard: 4 years, $30,000,000
Projected, set to earn $7.5 million annually over the next four years, has become one of the most solid backup point guards. Pritchard posted career-high averages in every offensive category and played a crucial role in the Celtics’ championship run, scoring in double-digits in four out of five games in the second round versus the Cleveland Cavaliers. Pritchard and the Celtics will look to repeat as champions and could be in contention for Sixth Man of the Year.

Here's a nice article about Pritchard. It's not about Trades and Signings, but we are discussing PP, so here's the link:
